I think that it would be really cool if the devs gave out a free copy of Starbound (when it's released) to the people who have suggestions that actually make it into the game! It would be a really cool way to give back and would also provide us with a great incentive for generating really, really good ideas! Just a thought.
I seriously doubt it, they might get to beta test but i think that they will have to buy a full copy of the game, especially if they upload it to steam.
even though I know the devs are really really nice and all, but I somehow doubt there is such generosity on this green (getting less green) earth of ours. although I really wished this would happen.
Not gonna happen, aswell as what everyone else said, they will chop and change suggestions so the line between what came from the community (let alone a single person) and what came from the devs is very blurred. Also people who suggest things should have an interest in the game, so why not support it with your money?
Wow, if they put in any ideas of mine, I'd be more leaning towards buying a copy for myself and 5 copies to make friends play out of excitement of having had a part in this game... I mean, just having something like I suggested in the game would be reward in itself.
Thats what I was thinking, I could easily see someone go "I suggested X, and it's in your game!" and the developers never saw or read any such suggestion, just coincidence. Really it wouldn't happen. Can't you just be content enough with the bragging rights that you suggested it?
That seems kinda greedy don't you think? Why not just add suggestions for the sake of helping the developers and the game itself?
If the game got given to people with accepted suggestions, I think way too many people will get free copies If you know what I mean? (Dev's taking loads of suggestions)
As other people have said, it's not going to happen. The main thing is that (other than for official contests) there is no way to know whether they actually even looked at your idea or not anyway. With so many suggestions on the forums, they're bound to have come up with some of the same ideas as people on here. A lot of information about the game is also still unreleased, so a lot of suggestions are about things that have probably already been made/designed. If something in the final game resembles something that you suggested just be content with the idea that they may have read your post and taken some points into account. Don't go looking for any kind of reward or recognition.
So what if this idea were to be changed to something more realistic such as signed artwork? Or something to that effect? And verification would simply be Devs posting in your suggestion thread saying this idea has been implemented into the game because of you!
That would work if it was an entire "major patch" level of idea. Otherwise it wouldn't be right. Just go support them by buying a copy, it wont be that expensive (I hope).
What about you get nothing. Suggestions are free and they can think it themselves too, which they propably will think. Asking for a free copy for the speech which is free to you sounds pathetic. A thanks is good enough.
Actually, I think them using your suggestion is already an honor. If you want a physical reward, put your heart and soul into making an awesome idea for the next contest they hold.
