Framerate issues in villages and dungeons

    Hi,

Most of the time the game runs smooth, at 60 fps. But whenever I enter an NPC-populated place like a village or a dungeon, the framerate drops to 30 fps. That does not mean killing the NPC's has any effect on the framerate: even after I killed every prisoner in the screenshots below, the framerate didn't get any better until I left the prison. It doesn't seem to be a hardware issue, in the sense that the CPU and the GPU aren't at 100% load. I've tried running the game in regular (DirectX ?) and OpenGL modes, windowed and fullscreen, but nothing changes.

Here are two screenshots of the problems:

Here you'll notice the framerate is 30 fps, and the GPU load levels are almost idle most of the time (the indicator shows 100 % put this is just a short spike)

Just outside the dungeon the framerate goes back to 60 fps.

My specs: ATI Radeon HD 5870, Intel Core i7 860, 4GB RAM.

From what I understand, this is a fairly common problem, are you using the OpenGL version of Starbound? This seemed to fix the problems for me.

It is just how the game is now, don't worry nothing is wrong with your PC.
This game is suppose to be able to run on a old laptop once it is finished.
