Enhance your starbound experience in every area. Massive mod.

    Hmmm.
It seems the last update (v4.30.73) broke my 'Frozen Wastes' mission. I can't teleport there any longer.
Early I finished 'Missing Friend' , but not 'Whar Lies Beneath' - now I can't go back to finish it (using v1.2.1 x64 on local server).

Server log complains about error loading asset /objects/wired/gravgeneratordungeon/default:default.on and generating dungeon named 'eldershoggoth',
    Thus the warping is failed.

Edit: I downgraded to v.4.30.72 and everything went back to normal.

Hmmm so what's the next big thing for Frackin Universes? We have science experiments, we have new biomes, we have bees, we have drinking...

Hmm... Magic, perhaps? Like on the level of the old Arcane Add On, but with that bit of frackin goodness?

I don't just mean standard staff spells either. I mean things like shooting streams of fire/ice/shock/poison/shadow out of your hands, summons, raising dead, taking enemies and throwing them against walls (or dangling them in front of you while you go to town on them with your other weapons), yanking their weapons out of their hands, reflecting their bullets, putting a protective shield around you, etc?
Maybe also enchanting/runecraft? Like the armor customization, only instead you're enchanting it.

It seems you already have it very partially going with the whole Elder thing, and I'd like to see that expanded upon. It could be a good alternative to the whole science thing, for those of us who want to unleash our innerstellar wizard.

Whether or not you previous crafted them and sold them is irrelevant to me. Hell, if you got rid of weapons a long time ago, many have been completely revamped in the last while anyway and are worth another look!

I'm here to make a mod that involves exploration and experimentation, and my design philosophy involves as little hand-holding as possible. I don't put things where they are easiest just for the sake of it. In fact, several weapons and armors are *only* unlocked by other weapons or hard-to-make machines. There are potentially some no user has ever seen yet still out there.

That's mis-typed. The turrets are unlocked by the material that unlocks those weapons. It's literally as simple as picking up the relevant material in your storage. But even if they weren't, you need the weapon to craft the turret anyhow. So either way, you still need to craft them.

Material unlocks are rarer than they used to be because most materials already unlock multiple things...you wont see the unlock message for half the crap you get anyhow. Which defeats the purpose, doesn't it? Thus, I often put things in other places.

    Mini Rocket Launcher
    Incinerator
    Tesla Gun

yea. Linux server or windows? Im already aware of the issue, though I cannot fathom why its a problem on servers. I can do it single-player without an issue. At worst it should fail to place the object, not prevent travel. Strange. In any case, already working on a fix.

fix is testing on github and steam now

Any possibility for some Zerchesium armor at any point?

lol. Magic. No. Closest you get to that is Elder stuff. You won't ever see "magic" in FU , at least nothing akin to things you know. If I did, it would be dark, evil stuff that involved sacrifices and such. This is a scifi game about exploration and technology, not about D&D classes and magical unicorns. Sorry :)

Besides, 99% of your ideas can be accomplished with science:

Yank weapons: Gravitic Reverter, Sweat Generator, Magnetic Thing
    Reflect Bullets: Kinetic Reversal Barrier
Shield: Already exists in FU on one of the plants (wretchel i think)
Fire/Ice/Etc: There are 10+ weapons that do exactly this
Summons: You can craft "summonable" robots already
Throw Enemies Against Walls: Grav Gun already exists

    and so on.

I have a bit of trouble with the gravity generator. When I'm standing near it and jump, I bump into some kind of invisible ceiling just a short distance up (like about five tiles above the floor). Projectiles such as the rocket spear effect bounce off of this. And if I jump too much, I can get stuck in the air and unable to move (even using rocket spear won't move me). Breaking the generator doesn't fix this; the only way is to break the generator, quit to menu and then return.

ive not seen this behavior, and i tested that crap for hours.

the generator creates a downward force, not actual gravity. Anything and everything that has mcontroller status, and items as well, will be affected by this downward force. It could be that that is the issue. However, I did manage to replicate something similar just a few moments ago. It also would not allow me to die. I'm not sure what created it.

I'm curious if using Radial rather than Rect will fix the issue. I really cant say. The whole thing *should* be fine, as its a literal copy of the vanilla forcepads. Except for one detail: the metaBound box. its possibly related. I cannot say for certain.

without a log error i cant say much else on the matter. And of course it said nothing untoward at all. Annoying.

I can't find anything in my logfile to indicate any problem either. Still, here's a paste of it, just in case. http://pastebin.com/kxiGFhw6

    And here's a screenshot:

    Really weird.

At least the Spacefarer armor works fine.

well, the screencap means nothing. its behaving exactly like it should there. gravity/force is pulling projectiles, items etc downward as intended. not sure wahts up, but it has to be related to the base code...i just copy/pasted theirs.

Thank you, that list super helpful! I'm totally way past all those guns, with plasma eruptor and war angel armor right now. I've only been playing for two weeks, so most content is still new and recent overall. This should allow me to figure out how to get those turrets now.

I also appreciate the minimal hand-holding design philosphy, but not when it becomes obtuse to the point that there is no way to progress or acquire certain things unless I have the same insider knowledge as the creator of the mod does.

there is nothing that obtuse in the mod at all.

If I add new stuff, its generally a matter of picking up resources till things unlock , dude. And if its not, it's for a reason. Also, I don't really care if someone has passed the content and has to backtrack to get things unlocked, or has to hunt to figure it out....because that is sort of the point.

This is a good reason to always keep extra materials. I always keep multiple 128+ slot containers that have at least 1 of each kind of bar, chemical, etc materials so that when a new update does come along, I can just go through it and click each thing twice. You don't even need to put it in your bag, just "grabbing" it with the cursor counts for unlocks.

Sure, it takes a little space for those containers, but hey. If you have enough containers and you keep them organized, it makes EVERYTHING so much easier because there is so. much. stuff. in this mod, that you can't feasibly not do it this way.

or you could simply install StarTech and need to only access the central interface. I prefer just having everything accessible at once.

Never heard of that mod, lol.

So many mods... but I like to keep things light. I cringe whenever I see .logs or pastebins when people have 20+ mods, I'm like "eeew....", lol.

    Just my preference, I know.

    sayter The Waste of Time

odd, considering FU has an addon for it as well, right here on this site :)

You *want* startech. you just dont realize you do. But you do. Definitely.

  17. Mooncalf99

    Mooncalf99 Spaceman Spiff

If StarTech offered more sorting options beyond "sort by quantity", I'd use it more often. Alphabetical order would be lovely. Category would work too. Quantity, not so much. Also, the game lags something horrendously when it tries to slog through a thousand or so different item stacks.

I can see having crafting materials in Startech, with multiple access points across the facility so you don't have to walk so much. But the stowed stuff? Spare furniture, clothes, novelty blocks, extra weapons, stuff I don't need that often? Boxes are just fine for that.

why do you need sort? you can use teh search option.

truth be told, the total number of times I have pressed SORT in starbound is exactly twice.

But yes, I meant more along the lines of resources.

For stored goods I tend to just use an Elder locker or a Gene Locker

    Live on Github

    * made vanilla boss special weapon loot a 100% chance drop, because farming loot sucks ass.

    * you can now kill the erchius horror the good old fashioned way (murder!) if you want, but it'll take a great deal of punishment

    * you can now kill Erchius Ghosts the old fashioned way. They are extremely difficult to harm, however.

    * corrected the growth rate of Wretchel. It was *way* too fast to grow

    * planted wretchel now causes the gravrain effect when walked over, but also gives you a 3-second slowfall effect

    * Vintage Scoped Rifle should now have a proper crit bonus

    * added Vashta Gun turret. unlocked with Vashta gun

    * added Sanguine armor set. Thanks to Doot for contributing this female set. I added a male chest from scratch.

    * storyline bosses are now immune to most FU DoT effects. No more cheezing them!

    * hopefully sporadic reports of Frozen Waste causing a warp to ship is now solved.

    * Memento Mori mod now included in FU. Thanks , Lunchghost, for such a cool and useful goodie!

Vanilla bosses don't drop loot. I've tested the Erchius Horror and the Ixodoom, and neither dropped their specific weapon.
