If you make a 12 button hotbar like the classic one you'll become the hero of many. I've been looking for a mod that reverts the hotbar back to the obviously superior beta version for ages and so far no luck.

There are some things that even mods can't do. A modded hotbar could have 12 button combos (L+R), but you can't ever bring the hotbar back to the L/R + 10 buttons with the hotbar acting as inventory room.

    It simply isn't possible, I don't think.

HOWEVER, even 12 button pairs that only act as shortcuts would be 10000% better than what we have without mods.

Oh ffs. I just wonder what was on the developers' mind when they decided to screw up with the hotbar and downgrade it to a worse version.

An unpopular change with a lot of people complaining and asking for the old bar back. Yet they just said fuck everyone we'll keep the new bar even if most people prefer the old one.

more people preferred the new to the old. The people that didn't like it are simply a lot more vocal.

Yeah, content people have a strange tendency to be fairly quiet about it.

Hey everyone I'm hoping someone can help me out here; the advanced centrifuge in my science facility isn't working at all. There's an attached screenshot to verify that I'm putting materials in the correct slot and with enough stacked. I've left this 680 stack of water in here for about twenty minutes now and it just sits there staring at me. I've had similar results with poison, swamp water, slime, and organic soup. I just want to make some mercury :( I'll also list all my other mods in case there's a conflict. Any help would be appreciated.

Mods: Frackin' Universe, Freedom of Movement, Larger Lockers Improved, EasyRam, Give me Cotton!, Combinable Augments, Improved Techs, Larger Lockers, Weapon Fusion Station, Extended GUI, Improved Food Descriptions, Improved Containers, One-Handed Torch, Flashlight, stay on!!!, Container UI Tweak, Weapon Stats, Spelunking EPP, Automatic Doors, Augments Slots for Armor, Matter Manipulator Manipulator.

    Thanks.

The machines at the Science Facility are not meant to work, at least not the powered ones (the centrifuge requires power, so it doesn't work).

What's the point of building your own lab when you can just teleport there and use the free machines? lol.

They're more for demonstration purposes, I think.

EDIT: If you want Mercury, throw on some Bone/Reptile/Chitin Armor and go to a Sulphuric Planet. You'll find so much Cinnabar (which smelts into Mercury) that you won't know what to do with it all.

correct. Powered machines at the outpost do not function. You're meant to build them yourself. And you *will* want an advanced centrifuge so get a Lab Centrifuge up as soon as you can

Ok thanks for the quick replies everyone. I guess what confused me is most of the machines in the lab worked just fine so I didn't really consider that some of them would be purely aesthetic. I think there's a Sulphuric planet right near me so i'll go check that out and mess around with power systems at a later date.

    Happy Holidays!

The Science Outpost is kinda like Ikea. It's there to show you how your own place could look with a bit of decorative skill, but you're not allowed to actually move in and live there.

Decided to test out the hunting spear nerf, why in the world...would you nerf...the only good weapon in tier 1 to complete garbage!?!?!?!

If you cannot tell, yes, it's a change I am upset at. You just as well have removed the weapon from the game entirely, firstly, and secondly you deny starting players and even advanced players a good early-game strategy for dealing with the early tier-1 planet grind/exploration phase. Hunting spears served as a starter player strategy; they were not perfect, they packed a whallop that made them helpful for getting off the first planet. By making them as weak if not weaker than a hunting bow, you effectively make them useless.

Throwing weapons packed a whallop because they were generally uncraftable, and those that were(the hunting spear and maaaaybe the next throwing spear) were obsolete in tier 3-4, around the time the player got competitive weaponry which was fit for actual combat. They served a purpose, to get the player off the first planet and through the first mission without putting to much of a grind or luck dependency on the player. The first enemies in the mission you have to complete in fact can be deadly as it gets if you don't get any ranged weapons of any kind to deal with them, and hunting spears only doing 6 damage you just as well have removed them from the game.

Here is MY recommendation for hunting spears: Revert them to what they used to be, then make other throwing spears only marginally more powerful, they didn't need to be as OP as they used to be, but comon, they are useless right now and tier 1 is a planet to get off of quickly. Lush planets are boring, they are tutorial planets, they are there to teach you how to play the game, not remain a base you stay on for a long time or god forbid be stuck on indefinently because of bad weapon find luck.

Throwing weapons were hardly end-game weapons, they were newbie/low tier weapons made to hold a player out till something better. Later tier weapons were impractical outside of boss fights because they had to be found, as it was, and while I would agree with some nerf to them, well...again, you over-nerfed the early ones to an extreme.

The bone spear was barely even nerfed, dude. You're quite literally blowing this out of proportion. It's bleed was nerfed, nothing more. It is not complete garbage, and still out-competes 99% of all t1 weapons. Fact. Don't whine about it. It does good damage for its tier, plus is the *only* t1 weapon in *any* mod that I know of that offers DoT and piercing. You have nothing to be upset about, and any further comment on this I will view as hyperbolic exaggeration. Their damage is 8.5 at t1, not 6 (and even then is on-par with their tier of weapon damage) and given their actual DoT damage that puts it up to about 11-15 damage which is still higher than basically all other t1-t2 weapons, save for two, both of which are crappy and slow.

    bone spear

    Speed: 0.9
    DPS: 9.45
    DoT/Bleed
    Piercing
    Can get Hides and Stuff

    vanilla t1 rangen spear:

    speed: 0.83 to 1.11
    DPS: 9.5 to 10.5
possible element, low chance at t1
    no DoT/Bleed
    No Pierce
    No Hunting ability

as you can see, they are well balanced with vanilla spears. I absolutely refuse to apologize for balancing a weapon that was *far* too powerful for its tier, no matter what you think lol

Throwing weapons were *meant* to be secondary weapons, but outshined *every other weapon in existence* in raw damage stats. We checked. Average DPS was about 3-5x as high as any other weapon. Stockpile them and you could literally walk through every dungeon without even needing to excert yourself without even once using a "real" weapon.
