Some people just don't quite understand that there is a big difference in reception between "[This] is crap, change it to [that]!!!" and "[This] leads to [that] which seems just too profitable. Is this intended?"

Before SB1.0, I used 6 Hydroponics to grow neonmelons for profit. This was just insane. Just had to refill water every now and then. Ever since 1.0 this is no longer possible and I am currently not aware of any just as crazy methods that you couldn't do in vanilla anyway.

Ever since that melon farm though, I prefer to not amass crazy pixel farms. I really want to have to go out there to gather my ores/stuff/whatever. Specifically did not unlock Ursa Miner and intend to never build Ansible Network for this reason.

Edit: Just noticed one thing: The installation instructions still point towards ...\giraffe storage\...
Changing this to the updated modding paths might be a good idea for not confusing users new to installing mods in 1.0

I also, like you, don't give a rats-ass about his server economy. This mod was not designed with MP in mind, nor will it ever be.

However, I do agree that the plants grow far too fast and seeds are a *bit* too common.

So, ive added some changes to github. Most plants grow quite a bit slower than before so that they are , more or less, in-line with vanilla plants.

Seed rates are reduced but still much higher than vanilla (50% is typical of the values I used)

    we'll see how it goes.

hopefully a final fix to the avaliwell dungeon issue

plant growth times increased by at least 25%, sometimes far more in the case of more potent strains.

seed rates dropped to roughly 50%

So I looked at the .object files for some of my favorites (Poe, Bracken, Mutavisk....) and it's kinda "meh". At least you kept Bracken and Mutavisk on the same timer (that would have been awkward otherwise).

Don't really like the changes, but coulda been worse I suppose.

And here I am, on a new playthrough, tapping my fingers on my desk bored out of my skull because of how SLOW cotton grows. I've been to like 3-4 planets now and I've only found ONE Cotton Plant and of course Tungsten Armor needs Cotton Wool for some dumb reason and like 45min later, I only have 1 piece of the armor because the stupid plant takes forever to grow.

EDIT: Oooo, FINALLY..... oh wait, it gives me TWO Fibers, and zero seeds (this is the 2nd harvest btw, no seeds, still trying to get this on ONE plant). That's not even enough to make 1 wool. Back to waiting another 30 minutes. This is why vanilla farming sucks.

and lol Gretzel decided to harass and ridicule me. Now he is permabanned. Good job, Gretzel. All you had to do was attach an error log.

Instead he hate-mailed me and claimed to run many UBER POPULAR mods with hundreds of thousands of players and so on and so on.... yet can't figure out to attach an error log. Cute, that. Great modder, but cannot discern how to report errors to another mod author.

Bleh haters gona hate and all that jazz. Also anyone got an idea for what to use to build a base/museum/fossil display building?

    Some people...... oi.

I know that the blocks used to build Big Ape's mansion looks like the perfect stuff to build a Museum with. What, with the red curtains everywhere, and the gold-inlaid classic furniture, it would look perfect.

As for a base... you mean a lab? I usually use Tungsten Blocks (the kind you can't make) with a little Avali blocks on the side IMO.

I haven't played much with Fracking Universe yet so I have some doubts. Can anyone explain a few things to me?

    1) Can I still visit the planets I have been to before I installed this mod, without the game crashing or any other problems?
    2) If I go to a system that I visited before adding this mod and I visit a planet for the first time, will it be generated with vanilla rules?
    3) Are there any serious issues that still need to be resolved?

I'm asking because if I can't go back to those systems then I'll make sure I have all of my items on my ship. And I will keep my fluffalo eggs for later. :)

As soon as I finish the story I'll start a new character with Fracking Universe. It'll be the real beginning of 1.0 for me.

I'm sorry if any of this has been asked before but this thread grows really fast... Thanks!

    Yes.

Partially yes, AFAIK, @sayter did not modify any rules of vanilla planets, unless he added a minidungeon or two here and there. I don't think he did tho.

None that are known, you might get the occasional beam-to-ship but if you report it with error log, he'll probably have it fixed within a few hours usually.

No danger of that, you can visit all the worlds you once went to.

The only thing you will want to do is back up your Player and Universe folders. Once you install FU and start playing it, you cannot uninstall the mod without wiping Player and Universe folders because of all the stuff FU adds. Loading up your game without FU will undoubtedly crash the game. But if you back up your player/universe folders, you can restore a working copy if you ever decided to do that.

And caveat #2, to actually see FU planets and biomes, you will want to travel 500+ fuel distance away (to make the game spawn new systems with FU rules).

Although if you start a new character, this won't be an issue as they would be plunked down on a randomly chosen planet unless you had ridiculous luck and got plunked down near where your first character adventured.

    1. yes. They generated before, and will be fine.
    2. if its an old ssytem, yes, as it is already generated
    3) not really. there is a vanilla-related bug though that should be mentioned: the liquid/solid interaction effects will screw your base up if the tiles interacting are dyed with the paint tool. So avoid dropping liquid everywhere in your base if you arent sure what it will do to the tiles. If you haven't dyed the tiles, you're fine.

    on that note:

Thanks for the quick replies. It'll be good to be able to revisit the vanilla systems. I do have a building project that I'd like to continue.

But one way or another, I do periodic manual backups and I'm totally aware that this is a huge mod, so there is always the possibility of some unexpected bug.

If I have any issues, no problem. It'll be more than worth any risk, especially a small one.

This is the best mod, imho. Thanks Sayter!

For some reason I cannot learn/craft the Poe Tree recipe.

I checked GitHub, and just as I thought, you learn it when you pick up Potato Seed.... well....

I checked the GitHub files, everything SHOULD be right. I don't get what is going wrong here.

EDIT: I did learn Diodia Hybrid and it DOES show up in the list... but the Poe Tree does not.

odd. ill see if i am able to

  16. Xylia

    Xylia Tiy's Beard

    Found it.

you have the folder named "potatoes" in objects\farmables\

But in vanilla unpacked, it's named \objects\farmables\potato

Changing the folder name from potatoes to potato fixes the bug.

EDIT: I can't figure out why I learned the Diodia Hybrid Seed.... unless something ELSE teaches that too.
EDIT2: Yeah, okay, another seed teaches Diodia Hybrid... ok.

    Silicon also teaches poe.

Found the issue though: they renamed the vanilla potato folder from potatoes to potato. this should solve the issue :)

Please change the recipe for the Food Locker at the Matter Assembler. Unlike the Fridge in vanilla, this recipe does not require Cryonic Extract. How's it supposed to cool without a proper refrigerant?
