sayter, i just found out that this mod, and another mod, Your Starbound Universe, are incompatable. i would be pleased if this gets resolved in the future, as i was looking forward to being able utilize these two mods in tandem to become the most epic space adventurer/mad scientist ever. thank you

I don't even see that mod's name mentioned here on this site through their search, nor does google return anything noteworthy. Do you mean Your Starbound Crew and its Worlds expansion? Honestly, haven't even had the time to check that mod out since I've been so busy with my own.

From what I can see, he uses modded Universe folder, so those worlds he has are built himself. I'm not sure I have the time or patience to merge the two at present time. But, when starbound eventually updates this should no longer be a problem anyway due to the new patch system that is replacing merges.

Hehe I agree that was a silly thing I did for that mod I don't do that stuff anymore I stick with the normal standard locations for items. Of course it worked either way but its not what people should do its bad practice! Sayter did a great thing I also wanted to say thanks for taking my mod and using it I will be removing it soon as 1.0 is out so its nice to know all the stuff I did won't get wasted. Also I anyone who might be curious if the mod is re done later on PB that is then their wont be a compatibility issue with this one because I wont be using the same code at all from the start.

    Best Regards,
    Armed Mosquito

So... crystal moons exist, right? I'm starting to think that I must have broke something somehow because now in more than an hour of sitting at the planet selection I have not found one. That or penumbra or proto. I'm in beta, though according to the main page all of them should spawn there, but I haven't found any. I've found plenty of other FF biomes (bloodstone, arboreal, wreckage, ect), just not the those. What are the chances of finding them?

  5. sayter

    sayter The Waste of Time

They are all pretty much just as likely as another to appear. Sounds like shitty luck, really. Hit Randomize, and keep trying :)

Bear in mind: Proto Worlds ONLY appear in the "habitable" zone or hot zones of their parent stars, never anywhere else. As such, you won't find many with red suns. Penumbra will appear wherever they please, but are the least common FF world type (in my experience anyhow, your mileage may vary). Crystal Moons typically only appear in cold orbits. They are more common in Alpha sector, due to less biomes to spread around.

Alright. I'll start just checking there then. I found a Protoworld pretty much immediately after posting this. Now, just to find the protocyte it's hiding...

be thankful i increased protocite rates recently :) If you are REALLY hard up for protocyte you can also just cut down the weird-assed proto trees. Each has one proto in it.

Can anyone tell me how i get plastic please

  9. sayter

    sayter The Waste of Time

The tutorials AND the in-game guide tell you how to get plastic. In fact, it's impossible to get all of the stations without said plastic. Follow the tutorial quests. Read 'em :) If you can't see the recipe unlocked, pick up silk, or a silk worm or a silk spider.

    Next Update: Teaser #1

next update I am focusing on "stuff". Here's a screenshot of some of that stuff: Improved parralax backgrounds. Starting with the currently messed-up crystal moons. Added more variety, and fixed up positioning.

not know the rate to find a sheet of glass, so if it is very low (nearly as low as finding a planet "proto" or a planet "penumbra", so if it is to be found in lower tiers and are now very small, it can be recognized that almost always has a strong magenta, regenerating liquid product it holds.[DOUBLEPOST=1415194417][/DOUBLEPOST]
I can make a suggestion? the planet "Crystal Moon" and "Penumbra" have a pretty simple room, I think they can add an effect of crepuscular light as I show below:
    (natural crepuscular light)

(crepuscular light in area zero of megaman zero 4)

the effect would look similar to that in the game Megaman Zero 4 just my idea includes some changes, in the case of the planets "penumbra" rays of light falling from the sky would be very low, while in the planets "Crystal moon" lightning falling from the sky would see a more abundant and Iridescent Color

I'd LOVE to do that. As it stands, though, I don't know if this is possible currently by the engine for the game. Parralax stuff always appears "behind" the scenery no matter what. If they add a "foreground" layer, then such a thing would be possible without much issue.

So do penumbra and crystal moon show up as that on the Navigation map? As saying "Biome: Crystal Moon" or am I going about this the wrong way?

They work exactly the same as every other planet type. Click on planet, it'll tell you the biome. Nothing else to it.

Thanks. That world loaded a bad weather pattern I guess. Let me verify.

edit: nope. Groundmist is a vanilla weather type. If you are up to date, you should be able to load it. If you are using a warez'd version, you'll have to figure that out on your own. Update, in any case. This has happened with a few people and in all cases they were not up to date. Other weather types will also cause issues.

If it isn't warez and you are up to date (which I assume is the case since you have a donor badge), that's just odd. It should exist in your default assets folder. Groundmist was added prior to EnragedKoala (update 8) which is our current version.

possibly not so random bug, and it seems to hold the same between myself and a friend so its not just me. its with the quests. certain species never get the frakinflora quests, I looked into your mod myself to find a list of species which, I'm assuming is the list of all the species that do proc ability to receive FF quests? the odd part about this was in my testing the "bug" is that all the pony species' and the novakid+'s do proc the quests anyway. I tested with a failure to get FF quests on the Mephetor(this one bugs me most since its my main char, oh well if nothing can be done), Kineptic, Nephilim, sergal, bunnykin, kemono, Vulpes, and Kangaru. I dont possess any other races such as the Munari or the Skellies, if anyone else can help confirm if they do or don't get FF quests, thanks I think it'd help.

A drawback to not getting the quests seems to be the inability to ever craft certain items such as vials, beakers, and pipettes(if spelled wrong sorry). I went into this whole search to be honest seeing why the recipes never would show up for my self, my friend or even any of these other species. I might have over looked something and in that case the derp is all on me  but at the least it'd clear a mystery up for me.

also, loving the new additions, FrackinFlora is definitely one of the best made mods out there

If the race is not in the quests file, you will never get said quests with that race. It's just how starbound handles it currently. Let me know all relevant races and I'll add them in the next release.

As for your remark about vials, etc: They no longer exist in the mod and haven't for months now. Vials, pipettes, mortar/pestle, etc are all replaced with simply using glass (basic, easy to obtain glass). In your favor: there are a lot of things to read in the update notes so you may have missed this fact as it was from an update a while back.

So, you aren't missing the recipes. They no longer exist in-game.

edit: added that slew of names to the race file for the next update. I don't use race mods, and I am not manually downloading each one to pull apart and look at right now, so if a couple of the race names are inaccurate i'll address them after the fact. This next update adds a heap of content that I am focusing on :)

Added mephetor, nephilim, sergal, bunnykin, kemono, vulpes, kangaru and skellies
