It seems to happen at random.

I've made new characters hundreds of times, and never had it happen. Others have had it with one character and no others, etc.

if you dont care, delete the universe files to reboot the universe itself. If you have lots of shit built on planets, thats a no-go. But you could delete JUST the starting planet from your Universe folder.

  2. FriendOfTheUnknown

    FriendOfTheUnknown Void-Bound Voyager

your right, it was a one-time thing. still, that was a bit strange..

  3. Inny

It happens when other star types are added that have a lush world as possible worlds. Then you can start on such a world around that modded star with a high difficulty level.
Sayter, you may check your stars to see if you made lush to spawn around them, I think binary stars have it.

  4. SivCorp

    SivCorp Parsec Taste Tester

I started my last universe on an end game system. I had rubium and solarium stars before steel 0.o

It was great, but definitely not a feature...

I do think it happens when a system had a valid lush, forest and desert worlds.

    sayter The Waste of Time

That makes some degree of sense. But, I'm not going to change that. I want forest , desert etc spawning in every star type I can muster. Lush isn't as important, being that after the first one you pretty much never go to one again. I'd not object to that removal, at least.

That, or I can make "alternate" versions of them that only spawn in the FU systems and are functionally identical, save for varying threat levels. That's another option.

Or I can leave it as-is, since it doesn't really impact much anyhow.

(edit: making "alternate" biomes is quite easy and wont actually need "new" biomes in this case. I'll take this route and see what happens. It still doesn't explain why a Garden world would ever have higher than tier 1 enemies though, since I haven't touched that in the first place. Game bug, I would guess.)

ok so I am doing the quests "Liquid Protocyte" it says that I need a protocyte bar to complete the quest yet it they way to get a protcyte bar is nowhere to be seen. I had to look on the wiki only to find I need a Fission Furnace. This is an example of a gap in the quest line up. It skips the building of the Fission Furnace. So I realize I need Helium 3, which is damn near impossible to find. So what I am saying is this gap in quest causes problems. I looked on those planets the metal moon and lightless planets to find helium but after going across the face of the whole planet and digging to the lava I didn't see any Helium. I never did find that quest that gives you helium either. Where is it? or where is the quest that gives you helium. Sorry I am just frustrated because all progress is at a stand still simply because of this one element that was never mentioned in a quest line.

    Inny Cosmic Narwhal

Helium 3 and Dark Gaz are invisible. You know you found them by the status effect they give to you. Then you just collect like a liquid.

Yea, the Fission Furnace is not worked into the main quest lines. But it does unlock with other recipes and it's quests fire when you craft it, solving the dilemma you mention. I keep forgetting to add mention of it into the questline. I'll add that to the list.

But, now you know how to do it, and you figured it out on your own as is intended :) And for the record: MOST of the mod is not mentioned in a questline. The quests just guide you through the basics. The rest is up to you to figure out. I suggest you get used to it :) There is very little hand-holding in FU. The emphasis is on exploration and self-discovery.

As for Helium and Shadow Gas: Both do not "always" appear on the biomes that have them. They are rare resources, and this is intentional. Usually when you do find them, they are plentiful. But sometimes you'll have several worlds without them.

If in doubt, consult the main page biome section. It plainly states what main resources each biome contains (the most sought after ones, at least)

*de-lurks* I've been playing Terraria, so I haven't been keeping up with Starbound... but that Starmounts mod looks interesting. Glad I keep checking this thread. :D

    Novocaine Void-Bound Voyager

Oh, sorry! Looked through it and here is where it seems to go nuts.

I've got a ton of other mods installed (Your Starbound Crew, Colorbound, ACCM, Daemon, Peglaci, Avali are a few) which may be the cause.

    Going Live Now on Github:

    new
    --------
    - New Planet Size: Huge (8000, compared to previous "large" vanilla world at 6000)

    - some new chests were added, and graphics on some of the old ones look more high tech, or just better overall.

    - “alternate” Garden, Forest and Desert biomes added for use in FU systems. They have widely varied threat levels, rather than only tier 1 and 2.

    - ice moon, metal moon and crystal moons all have varied gravity ratings now. You never know what you’ll get now!

    - added Armored Snowpants, a low tier armor to help players cope with dreadwing paired with the sometimes dangerous slowing effects of snow. With them on, snow is a non-issue. Place a Matter Assembler to unlock the recipe.

    - clouds atmospheric biome
    - elderasteroids atmospheric biome
    [IMG]

    updated
    ------------
    - cloning lab intro quest replaced with nanofabricator quest.

    - the liquid protocite quest now correctly informs you that you will need a Fission Furnace to craft the required protocite bars.[DOUBLEPOST=1432991647][/DOUBLEPOST]

Are you on nightly or unstable? or just stable? prisilite should be found , as it is a vanilla asset in stable at present and so should not generate this error. That underground biome uses the crystalmoon ore generators. I(edit: I just visited 3 without errors) [DOUBLEPOST=1432991696][/DOUBLEPOST]

The cause appears to be a shield generator, which FU does not have. This is not an FU error :)

Mud is very annoyingly sticky. Perhaps it would be best to vary the amount of stickiness somehow?

I'm loving slippery ice and slime.

I have a question, is miner(ultra) meant to cost 5 miner(hybrid)?, i mean all upgrades only require the last miner and 5 hybrid one's is a quite insane price.

Btw thanks for the new version sayter!.

I was looking for that crazy core thing i need for quantum extractor, and trying to build more on my home planet... Had a power failture and lost all my bookmarks and teleporting links, now i'm looking all over for my teleporters. :c

    sayter The Waste of Time

edit: um..... its not 5. I just checked.

    Code:
       { "item" : "densiniumbar", "count" : 2 },
       { "item" : "ff_focusingarray", "count" : 1 },
       { "item" : "hybridminer3", "count" : 1 }

    thats the currente nanofabricator recipe

the SECOND miner is wrong , with 5 .

    Code:
       { "item" : "hybridminer", "count" : 5 },
       { "item" : "densealloy", "count" : 4 },
       { "item" : "ff_penumbraplating", "count" : 5 },
       { "item" : "ff_protoplating", "count" : 5 }

    ill fix that up.

Does the newest update require to re-create the "universe" folder to make 8000x planets appear?

nope, theyll work just fine. You'll need to scroll a ways on the starmap though, and choose a world after you see "blank" space and "Processing". Trust me when I say they are rather obvious when you find one :) They are gas giant sized.

    sayter The Waste of Time

I may actually have a second update this weekend. Possibly even today. I just added numerous gas giant types to at least give some visual variation to them, some new sub-biomes and some biome tweaks. Going to try to get motivated to work on the Elder Temple stuff now.
