It's also useful to know what the players like in your mod.

Where in the github of the mod i can search for the enraged koala version ? i tried and downloaded an RC version from the ''releases'' section but it didnt work so i assume it wasn't for enraged koala

There is no Enraged Koala version, specifically. I couldn't even tell you what version # is compatible with it anymore. Upgrade your game instead. There is literally no reason to use Enraged Koala anymore, as it is outdated now. Steam updates it on it's own, so why on earth would you intentionally use an old, feature-deprived and buggier version of the game?

If my criticisms come across as "mean," it's because I've been with this mod for a damned long time. Long enough that I remember when it was called "Frackin' Flora," and all you got for your download was a handful of plants you had to root out across the vanilla biomes and a truckload of crafting tables. I know where it's been, I've seen its strengths and weaknesses, and I happen to want to see it generally succeed. If I feel that it's doing things that are hurting its chances of success and its "fun factor," I am going to say so. If you have bad things to say about your friends, it ain't because you hate 'em. It's because you know 'em well enough to know where their flaws are, and you want to help them overcome those flaws because they are generally cool people whose success and happiness also makes you happy.

And just simply stopping use of the mod ain't always an option. After all, FU really gets deep into universe; you'd have to reset damn near everything to get rid of it, and that's not always worth it. Not to mention, the people I play multiplayer with all use the mod, and I find "unable to play multiplayer with my bros" an unacceptable loss. But it's getting harder to keep up with the more intricate the mod becomes, especially if I happen to want to start a new character.

I don't know..maybe cause just part of the good mods didn't update. nothing can replace them i guess but since you gonna hate so much on the old version i guess i can forget about this mod.

oh it wasnt a criticism of YOU. Your feedback was appreciated. I was generalizing. I like to do that, as I am sure you know by now :) Feedback appreciated much, and taken to heart. In this particular instance I simply disagree with what you were saying, as the issues brought up are, more or less, dealt with now :)[DOUBLEPOST=1432861033][/DOUBLEPOST]
It's not a matter of hating on the old version. It's a matter of the product now being superior than EK was in every way. The majority of mods are also superior now due to the increased amount of features available, and a much more useful API for modders to utilize in general. What mods are you so hell-bent on using that you'd want an "ancient" version? In any case, there is no version available for you to use any longer. FU for EK was not on Github at all, and any version of it is long gone from those days. Given that it took about 2 months to convert everything from EK to the new stable...I am not about to back-pedal the work for the sake of one dude.

It makes more sense to simply update your game, and look for new mods that do things similar to what you used before. Or, message the mod authors and see what's up with them, etc.

Though I really am curious..what mods are worth using a version that far back for?

Complaining is a thing, CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM is another. I'm a graphical artist and i know exactly what the difference is between them. Whenever i had something to point, eventually someone mentioned or suggested it already. I haven't had anything to point out yet as "this could use more balance" or "this is frackin broken" that wasn't posted yet - Thanks to that, i keep on just pointing whatever bugs i run across.

My current and only complain is about the game itself, because some places just look too dark even if my led monitor is at max brightness. Not even talking about penumbra or lightless sphere worlds, the caves themselves. I use the spacefarer helmet, the lantern, bucketloads of torches, and i still think it's too dark. The problem is that it is right, it is supposed to be dark. It's my personal thinking about the matter, and i know it is dumb, so that's one thing i shouldn't post - this was just an example.

About FU itself, i'm not sure how progression in-game is since i was never able to reach its end. Still hunting materials for some weapons and specially the quantum extractor.
And... How long does the leafshell fruit protects against liquids? And which liquids, btw?

The only things I can think of would be the older ship mods and the original Avali mod, but the Avali mod has a fan update now.

Also, small bug or compatibility issue. Landed on an Frigid Ocean planet and discovered the following:

A bit of temperate biome has spawned in the middle of the ocean, which would normally not be a problem except that lower parts of the biome are below sea level and the edges of the island are below the water line, but the water drains into the background rather than flooding in as it should. The only problem is that I know the background drain thing is a vanilla issue and I have no idea how or if the biome spawning below sea level can be fixed.

Edit: Trying to get coordinates, but Steam crashed and took Starbound with it when I went back up to my ship. Trying to get it to launch again.

    Edit 2: x -450249200, y 325387149, Epsilon Aaoe 25 VIIIa.

Can't really fix that. Long story short: it happens and I can't prevent it, really. They aren't very common, so I don't really sweat it.

Seen that too, there are some crazy liquid spawners on FU biomes, and sometimes the sub-biomes break things and the water level like that. Seen it even underground. My suggestion is build extra land over the "waterfall" way so it won't bother you much, or build enough to destroy the invisible liquid spawner. I did that with some underground poison/bio-ooze puddle that was being a pest and not disappearing.
By the way, I've seen that thing on your back before, and if that is giving off THAT MUCH LIGHT, i want it. Which item is that?? @_@
Also, who's that pokemon? Is it from the Starmount mod?

Unfortunate. I'll just have to glass the planet.

The mount is from Starmount, yes. It's one of the final tier flying mounts. Comes with two different varieties of breath attacks and a slight illumination.

The LUDICROUS LIGHT back item is the tier 3 light drone from Lightdrones Continued. It's very nice, and added to the mount's light effect...

I use lightdrones as well. The medical top-tier one is my go-to when testing without Admin mode on since i can up fast that way.

There are back light items in FU now though, you just need to find the blueprints for them first in the various chests :) You'll need quite a few crystals to make them. Worth it.

As for the ocean issue posted above, the only real fix I can see is making it so that only sub-biomes with the same terrain generators load on the ocean worlds. But, technically I didn't edit Frigid Oceans. They simply use the same subbiomes as the snow or ice ones. That is likely the source of the issue.

If it ends up being too common a problem, I'll see about patching in a specific set of sub-biomes for ocean-based variants of biomes (though that may honestly be the best option anyhow, since I can put ocean-specific sub-biomes on them that way and everyone is happy)

Hey, I just installed the newest version of this mod. As far as I can see, the mod seems to be working alright (new planets are spawning on my map), however it keeps sending me back to my ship whenever I try to land on a planet (even the vanilla ones). Any way to fix this?

I have something i feel i need to bring up, im not sure if its a bug or what, but i just started a new charecter and the monsters were (i think)steel-tier, and my starter weapons were doing nothing to them, and i was getting one-shotted by starter planet creatured, dealing 280+ DMG.

  17. sayter

    sayter The Waste of Time

I don't edit starting spawns or starting world difficulty at all. I add sub-biomes only, and those are limited to the planets own threat level.

What other mods do you run? Chances are it is another one causing the issue. If you run Mysterious Stars, Primsmatic Stars or other similar mods, they are known to cause such things to happen sometimes because they rework all that stuff.

    So yea...what mods?

  18. FriendOfTheUnknown

    FriendOfTheUnknown Void-Bound Voyager

a handfull of modded race mods, halo ultra, creative mode, and AVIAN AI replacement.

  19. sayter

Not sure then. But Garden biome is still set to threat level 1 in FU, and all other vanilla biomes retain their original threat ratings as well.

strange... i guess ill delete a mod, and try FU again, redownload that mod if it doesnt fix it, repeat the process if it does it again. if i cant figure out the problem, then i dunno whats causeing it either.
