    And that's exactly why I removed the old cloning lab. I had no intention of making 11,000 variants of items. Nope. There are not enough nopes for that.

    I was unaware of these other options...I'll have to look into those! And failing that, I can just bite the bullet and find something super-hard to build my walls out of, and pray no megameteors spawn on it. Thank you for the many responses!

    FYI: This just in

    Use has mentioned that the new energy regen values DO stack, so long as they are not the same type/tier

    IE: you can stack a Proto-Pack with an armor regen and a plant regen effect. But if the plant regen matches either of the others, it wil effectively do nothing since you already have that effect enabled.

    As such, I'll need to take a second look at the Scout armor, since I think each piece uses the same regen. I'd rather have a single regen at a higher value if that is the case :)

    Not sure I like the generator idea....at least not the part where I have to refuel it.....but it depends how much of a pain it is to maintain......especially for something like base protection. If I have to refuel it every in-game day/week I would probably just avoid building in hazardous areas. The last thing I want is: "You haven't been by you base in ____ amount of time so the power generator ran out of fuel and now it's gone" or minding my business and then suddenly a meteor shower blows my base and me to pieces because fuel. Even if fuel is very easy to get lots of I hate it because sooner or later I'll forget and then something I spent a lot of time making will be gone.

    The atmospheric filter sounds like a really great idea. There are some cool planets I pass by that I would love to build bases on but due to the weather it isn't ideal. The power presser also sounds great. I feel neutral about the nano-fabricator, though.

    I'm a bit iffy on the generator. It seems like it would be far too tedious to require it for all the labs. However, I think it would work for the extractors and the sampling array, since those are things you aren't crafting manually like the other labs. You have to wait for the machines to do the work, and so I think the generator would be great there. Perhaps there'd be some way to make them work faster depending on the fuel you use, too.

    Have you seen that development video on the home page? It seems like they're doing a lot of work with combat and armor, so I'm wondering if you're going to have to rework the FU weapons and armors to accommodate for that when the next update comes.

    Also, found a couple of PGIs:
    Quantum Energy Pack has a PGI in its recipe.
    The Spacefarer set doesn't have a helmet. I recall when I unlocked the set there was a PGI unlocked too.

    All the new/seperate crafting stations would be realy great, since it would organize your lab a bit more
    this will also make things easier to find and craft

    The atmospferic filter would be nice too, because you could then have your Base on Irradiated planets and so !
    I would prefer that the atmospheric filter itself uses fuel to work, instead of drawing power from the generator

    I have indeed, and yes, I'll need to rework every damned stat again. But it will be worth it, based on what they are saying. Having the weapons be viable across multiple tiers is worth it no matter what.


    Thanks for the note on the PGIs. I'll get those fixed immediately before I forget. I'll probably put a hotfix up tonight for those that want it.

    Yeah, 3D printer but for food.

    For the planet scanner, I figure could just read from somewhere which parts are being used for the creatures below, or (and this sounds clunky) send a drone down offscreen, circumnavigate the planet (takes time?) and take screenies then it cuts the critters out and produces the images? I dunno, that's the best I can come up with. I figure -something- in the files stores the images it could read and pull from though.

    ... ... ... wait a minute, combat drone! Instead of beaming yourself down, you beam down a scout drone! Said probe/drone could be fitted with a flashlight, or shields protecting it from elemental hazards, it could get into narrow spots and go deep below the surface... the drawback would be the (very) limited fuel (and lack of inventory space), so equipping it with a mining laser might not be the best idea if you can't scoop up the ores (and that's what -you're- for)...

    Yea, dude...the engine doesn't really do that. Like, at all. Neat idea in concept, but no way to implement that without rewriting hardcode lol.

    You need to rein in your ideas when you spew em out, and remember what the game can ACTUALLY do. As far as I know there is no way to take possession of other bodies right now (ie: the player controlling the drone). It would function exactly as a submarine or boat does right now, at best, since that is what actually can be done at present.

    That and I have no interest in coding something like that even so. The closest we could manage would be like that mining-scanner thing that one mod does at the moment.

    Generator
    Good idea, gives use for massive quantities of fuel that some of us get without trying. And gives a good use for coal besides torches and fireworks.

    Nano-Fabricator
    love the idea of a separate upgrade machine, would help clear up recipes. Too many nights of scrolling thru things trying to remember what something was, lol.

    Power Press
    As mentioned before, would be good to make plates of some of the vanilla materials as well as the ones FU adds.

    Fuel Refinery
    This sounds good, just to sort things out easier. I think Your Starbound Crew has this, too. Trying to remember as I haven't been on in the last week or so.

    Atmospheric Filter
    This is a definite yes. So many uses for making small bases, or even just to have a safer spawn area on some worlds. Could make small add ons that extend the area in smaller increments too.

    - new underground sub-biome: Erichius Cave. Contains Erichus crystals you can extract. You’ll find

    it within numerous biomes (though mostly those with a higher than average stone, metal or crystal

    composition)

    • extraction recipe for erichius added

    • Spacefarer helm should properly unlock

    • Quantum Battery Pack should no longer display a PGI in its crafting requirements

    • Tidewater biomes should now appear on Unknown biomes

    • Tidewater subbiomes should now appear on Unknown biomes

    • Proto-Scout armor now grants bonus HP on the Chest and Head pieces since the energy regen does not stack. That rendered the regen on the other parts useless.

    • Dark Matter armor chest no longer requires Hellfire seeds. All armor parts now require Wretchel instead.

    • bio-ooze, proto liquid and irradium liquid glows have been reduced

    • liquids missing the swimming effect now have it added

    • densinium armor was not nearly badass enough. It has been buffed.

    • the crafting stations no longer unlock with quests. This makes certain that anyone can make the stations in case the quests fail to load for any reason (incompatible race, etc). You’ll still need to tier-up appropriately to make all the stations anyhow due to needing titanium and such.Thus the quests are still useful.

    • quests no longer give station blueprints. Instead, you’ll get blueprints for items, or just items, as rewards. No ones quests should be screwed up :)

    Heh. Seemed like a good idea, but if the engine can't take that kind of a pounding without real rework, not much we can do about it. :)

    Quantum armour needs more love, since sheer amount of resources to create one is huge.

    I haven't honestly tried...I tossed resources into its recipe without much thought on what is needed to get there.

    But, noted. The upcoming combat changes from chucklefish pretty much invalidate every weapon and armor adjustment i've made recently anyhow. I may as well tinker :)

    few words: Everything will be better.


    Basically from the dev video they posted: Increased projectile speeds, numerous damage types implemented with colored damage indicators, all melee two-handers will have alt-fires, guns can have alt-fire modes. Guns and other weapons will be viable across ALL the tiers, as armors will now convey a damage buff extending the usefulness of all pew-pew weapons and whatnot.

    IE: I make a "tier 2" gun. Instead of tier 2 damage it will now have X damage. Armor worn will give a Y bonus to damage. So now the damage is X + Y. Not sure on the specifics, but thats a GREAT thing.

    additionally, melee weapons have less swing delay (attack is instant instead of delayed now, with the delay coming AFTER the swing)

    energy will replenish faster as well.

    Sounds fun. I hope, thought, that next thing that they do is making more enemy types/revamping enemy ai/more things to shoot at. That pinguin mech boss was something. More such fun needed.

    in other news, because of your note on the recipe for quantum armor....

    I went and looked through all the old recipes... as in old weapons and such... I've altered almost everything to simplify it. Seems a lot of them had requirements that should have long been adjusted. I'll be doing the same for armors and resources now, too.
