A bot, while it certainly is a nice thing would also take away from the feeling of boldly going where no cinnamon toast has gone before - which is why i did not just fire up the old list of recipes, but only noted the things my toon actually came across ingame
"Doctor Livingstone, I presume." - this 18th century atmosphere of 4 bore elephant guns and stuff and white spots on the world map where places like the lost city of gold or shambhalla might yet be awaiting discovery.
Incompleteness makes me comfortable.
But then again that is just me.

The wiki isn't an in-character thing. It's meant as a help tool. Romanticizing it is a disservice to the non-roleplaying majority.

Romanticizing the wiki is - for me - a way to motivate me to contribute. I do not see the "disservice", as long as the information is accurate and accessible - which it is, until another major update turns the world upside down (again?).
Until you get yourself in gear and complete the pages I am at - which you are both from my personal standpoint and under the terms of the Wiki welcome to do - it is my heartfelt belief that the community is better served with some information than none at all.

 

Sayter; a short question for you...I'm looking for ways to make more genetic material and I knew from Frackin'Flora you could extract those from meats....your own Universe guide also says it can be extracted from meat but I've tried extracting meat and it won't let me...is this an oversight or am I doing something wrong ?

 

I -think- that sort of extraction might have been removed, though it wouldn't surprise me if flesh biomes would work. Don't hold me to that though.

 

not all meat items. I keep meaning to get around to that and forgetting. I'll add that into the list. It might only be raw steaks at the moment. unsure, as I don't have the files handy at the moment.

Easy source of Genetic Material : 10 minutes on a bloodstone world. Knock those gross-assed trees down.

 

If the subject that people are taking about is about making the wiki pages feel like they've came from or were written by a scientist... I'd be totally cool with that. It's partly why I love SCP entries.

The following stuff I'm taking about was solved during the process of writing it all down. But, I left it up either way.

When do I get the quests to unlock/receive the recipes for the Xeno Research station and the Gene Design Lab? It's not after any of the mutavisk quests is it?
See, I'm currently under the impression that I either need to make the seeds using the silk for a strand sample of the plant or something, or that I need to make the seeds first to get the silk, which would be a problem if I needed one of those two machines to make the seeds.

If they're obtained somewhere down the Chem Lab quest line however... then it's mythyl iodide that I was missing.

Which... after researching the chemical itself online, revealed a solution.

I guess... I really shouldn't undervalue the sampling array. It does do some useful things from time to time.

You know though, the possibility that I messed up somehow the last time I did my quests, made me make another character to be sure.

The game wasn't broken! I'm just dumb!

I'll just state for the record that some of these quests feel out of order. Like the mutavisk quests? It would have been less confusing if I got those after I got a xeno lab, or if it mentioned that I'd need extra lab equipment.

Anyhow, all is right with the world now; my possibilities just became endless. No more rationing my plastics anymore!

Edit: It's starting to look like like sayter wasn't exaggerating when he said you'd be swimming in silk once you got them growing.
Also, it looks like hydroponic tubes aren't functioning, but I think I saw something about that somewhere.

 

if someone could provide an error log when they try to plant some shit into the hydro-tubes, that would be handy. Probably something dumbass-simple that I messed up.


As for quests feelign out of order: intentional. Each scientist does things ONLY for their station. If you can't yet make what they want.. that means you need to do a different station to get it's lead-in ingredient to produce what they want

 

Speaking of lead-in ingredients, I can't find out how to make graphene. I can't progress without it.

I know you like people to do their own leg work, but I've been searching planets and messing with the sample array for a couple of days now. Is it a part of a previous quest that I missed?

 

I haven't been back at the quests yet... THAT'S how you set them up?

Also, are oceans supposed to spawn on Rainforest planets? Found a couple nicely contoured with smooth walls and floor (with volcanic rock at the bottom) and learned something neat. If water hits poison from deeper down, the poison stream WILL appear to flow back up as the poison converts faster than the water can flow. Doesn't impact ocean bottoms though; once it hits the ocean remains an ocean instead of poison. That and sometimes the ocean edges spill over, creating those endless-draining edges.

 

Just to confirm on my part Sayter; Raw and Cooked Meat, Poultry, Ribs, fish; none of these can be extracted for Genetic material (hope that helps you search in your own files). Apart from that; thanks for the bloodstone tip; guess I'll start farming the bog and bloodstone worlds

Not really. There was literally no other way to make it work. Every station requires something from another station at some point. Overlap was virtually unavoidable. So, we had to work it in this way to make it actually possible to advance. That means people *gasp* need to think and *gasp* need to work and *huge gasp* need to READ to progress. lol.

Using version RC0831; Mercury does NOT show up in the alloy furnace

 

yes it does. In fact, it's the only furnace that has the recipe. You may not have unlocked it yet.

Cinnabar, the ore you smelt into mercury, teaches the recipe. Did you get some but not the recipe?

 

I just tested, got the recipe fine a second time, and that's the screenshot. So yea, works fine as far as I can see. He's either using the wrong version, or hasn't unlocked it. It was an error I fixed a while ago.

 

Hello, I'm using Frackin' Universe RC0831, creative mode, isn science, bees and ISE3 and I can't seem to access the recipes in your mod. I don't get why. help would be appreciated.
