Sounds like something for the admin command, but I'm the last hyena to ask.

 

Custom races no longer matter for the quests. So long as you can access the vanilla outpost and press the letter E near the apex scientist there, you can access the quests. You need only fix your FTL drive.

logicalyl speaking, your meta file should contain a tag to say "hey he completed the FTL quest" and that should do the trick.

 

I've completed the FTL quest and there are no exclamation points in the outpost.

 

ah, then no, no way to manually load it, alas. You can give yourself the labs via Admin commands. Do them as -recipe on the end though or you wont learn the blueprints

 

Can I potentially go into the metadata file and re-give myself the FTL quest?

 

i think your only option is to totally wipe the meta. And you probably dont want to do that, since it will , in all liklihood, erase your ship upgrades

i recommend doing it on a planet surface. things tend to spawn outside the ship when you do it unless you are mindful of where your mouse cursor is pointing (it will spawn at cursor location as far as i know)

that should at least provide you with the labs so you can start playing as normal.

 

Personally, I'm more for having some capability to write stuff down in-game.

Since science is a big part of the mod, I'd really love to be able to write down notes and scientific discoveries. I suppose... write codex's of my own?

Also, on the subject of written knowledge, it would have been really nice to have some of the basic sampling array recipes either explained to me in-game, or listed in a codex of their own. It's almost as if you wanted me to read through the mod overview!

In other news, bracken trees are still a thing I have yet to find. From what I've read, they're supposedly located at Rainforest planets? Rainforests continuously insist on being a very uncommon planet type. So when you've browsed through 12 star systems, locating only 2-3 rainforests, all within their own separate gentle star galaxies, each one being unreasonably further from each other compared to some of those other stars which only cost 40-80 fuel to travel between (combined with the fact that I insist on being one of those people who wants to use science fuel rather then moon fuel)... and still haven't found a single bracken tree yet... well...

I don't even know what they're suppose to LOOK LIKE! I know you want people to explore for their things and stuff, but with what seems like a lack of usable unique plants... I just end up feeling like I've been looking at the wrong places. There does come a point where it just feels like you're being punked by the universe.
Edit: Never mind, I saw seyters message about these other labs. I guess I'll just keep doing quests then.

On a positive note, aside from finding some volcanic stone and ash under the surface of one of said rainforests, I did find some stone chests with some stuff in them (which included resin too, just in case if I wanted to make any particular piece of volcanic furniture).

 

Excuse me, I am not going to burn my lab down. However, if my experiences with the Hyperion Anti-Everything Gun are any indication, I am very likely to accidentally vaporize my lab in a giddy lust for destructio-- I mean science.

 

If you get the gas idea to work properly you should post the key parts of it to the general modding forum. Be fun if people can start including gasses. Though to keep with the theme I think I would have to make a new item to go along with the Spigot and Spout to be dedicated just to gasses...

 

Any non-standard recipes for the sampling array DO have books you can find with recipes in them They appear in the FF chests (the white or stone/grey ones). The standard recipes are given in the questline for the sampling array. So, those are also explained. Failing that, there are the in-game guidebooks that ALSO exist for this purpose and are available at the outpost bookshelf as well as in the basic crafting menu.[DOUBLEPOST=1426025945][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yea, I'll see what can be done. If I can completely remove the "water sound" and "water slowness" and "Swimming" then we're good in the hood. I am not optimistic about this, though.

 

Seems to me "swimming" might just be a variable right? How hard would that be to remove? I'm no coder, so I'm just ignorant. It might be far harder than changing a variable, I dunno.

No, it's only a "simple variable" if a variable that can be edited exists in the first place. if its hardcoded, there is precious little to do about it. We'll see.

 

Messing about with admin some more, went to an Unknown planet, found what I thought was a lava "ocean" with a thin layer of dirt over it. Dig down, swim down, it begins splattering. Turns out it was a hollow planet, you can understand the lava storm that came down since the unloaded chunks were empty air and the area above it was large lava "ocean". It was fun to watch but if it were a real character, it would have been a pain to avoid... might want to make sure lava pools/oceans doesn't spawn over hollow planets/unknowns. No errors with the log; I shoulda taken a screenie.

 

That's because it's not an error. It's 100% intentional. You go to an Unknown, you take the risk of finding a hollow world like that. That's part of the randomness.

If someone is dumb enough to play FU on Hardcore difficulty, that's a chance they take by choice


Hollow planets are rare. I've found 1 in about 40.

 

Ah, so it's intentional that empty air would be at the bottom of the lava ocean, then the entire lava ocean comes splashing down and fills the lower half?

I find them semi often, I've found 6 or 7 in my random admin wanderings.

basically, the surface has an ocean, and underneath that is a "Lost World" scenario. So, the ocean can come crashing down if there is an opening. You done gone and ruined billions of years of evolution and balance with a pickaxe. You monster!

 

Makes sense. You should see the way I roll at Blood Bowl (combat fantasy football); I roll 1s there every other roll as well.

Note that I didn't have any star players. That might make all the difference in the world. Wasn't spending 400 bucks on a losing team.

 

Heh. I know the feeling all too well. That's why I play rats, either in the steam version or the web version. At least -they- are supposed to go squish!
