This mod is not complete, Kaz. It's being revamped from the Koala era and they're still not done. Expect this sort of machine gun updating to continue for a while.

 

You don't have to update literally every single time someone edits a word or two, you know. If shit's working, keep using it until you decide 1) enough has changed and 2) changes are stable enough. For a guy mentioning professionalism in a thread about a hobby project, you're not really up to speed on how servers work, are you?

 

I'm going to tone this down from what I want to type. Because it would hurt your feelings. But I will say this: You have no idea what the hell you are talking about.

Professional releases are done "nightly" quite regularly, actually, Kaz. Starbound itself has a Nightly release. That is not the word you are looking for , in any way, shape or form. The workflow is perfectly fine. Would you rather I left game-breaking bugs and broken quests in so that players can't progress at all for weeks on end? THAT would be bad from a professional stance. The professional thing to do is to fix your product. Not leave it broken.

I do this for FREE so that you can have fun on your own. I don't get paid. I do this because I enjoy it. And honestly? Who the hell complains about bug-fixes? Seriously, man. For the record: on the VERY FIRST PAGE of this mod, near the top, riiiiiiight under the logo

Key word: Beta. It's not a finished product yet. You opted to grab it , and accept any update schedule that fits it. And any bug fixes that will come, and there will be plenty on a project that up until recently was one person. 99.9% of what you see was done by one guy. Me. I have help now, and that speeds up updates a bit. Deal with it. Also, I don't care if you need to update your server every day or every other day. It takes literally 3 minutes to download the mod, delete the old folder, and drag the new one into place. If this is too much work for you, that would be your issue. Not mine.

Basically what you are saying is "give me a half-assed, buggy product I can use on my server that will likely cause came-crashing issues with me and my friends. I don't want a product that actually works properly. I'm too lazy to drag a folder over so that my players have a better experience."

 

You should not be running a server for anything if you're going to complain about a mod offering optional updates that consistently fix bugs and add new content. Like, replacing files is quick and easy and if thats somehow too much for you, running a server is not the thing for you.

That said I never thought I'd see someone complain that a mod actually gets bug fixes, since so many go without, but now I've seen it I guess.[DOUBLEPOST=1425482864][/DOUBLEPOST]

Where can i get bracking trees?

 

Well, I'm still having the same error with genetic material I was having before, after updating to the latest release (.81), starting a new character and a new universe.

EDIT: I did double-check too. I had completely wiped the mods folder prior to re-installing.

then it's a conflict, or something akin to that. Because nothing is wrong with genetic material anywhere in the mod. The previous error was a quest error that you had posted, but it wasnt related to genetic material. Rather, to the methanol quest. That is no longer an issue, as that quest is fixed and I've verified by testing that everything works fine.

Please attach a new log immediately after your crash so that I can see what might be happening. But it won't be genetic material itself. There is no reason picking up the item should cause the problem, since that item has no scripts to cause crashes and is used in only one singular quest early in the extraction line. There should be no logical reason at all for that item to cause a crash. You're the only person to ever report it

 

You can make three Bracken Tree seeds at the Gene Design Lab as part of one of the quests.

 

Not even sure why he'd ask, since only one station makes plants My guess, he got to the quest for bracken, and hasn't yet gotten his Gene Design lab. In which case he's going to need to do other quests first.

 

I made sure that players receive some silk just before the plastic quest to avoid them being blocked. Unless they destroy it, there should be no problem.

 

Yea, not worried. He probably just got confused since it wasn't directly given to him and he's not at the right quest yet.

on that note, just realized the cloning lab still unlocks the xeno station. adding to The List.

 

Hey, is there by chance a discussion thread for the wiki? I'd like to start contributing to it, and it would be nice for there to be a place to coordinate efforts.

Contribute all you like. I made a few pages but I'm not very apt with wiki stuff. I mean, I know how to write real gud and use proper structure and crap, but making things.. you know, all wiki like, is kind of foreign to me. But I'm learning.

Probably isn't all that important as long as pages don't have false information. Like I hope mine don't. That'd be my kind of screw up, I'd make a page detailing how to get sulphur and tell people it can only be found in frozen oceans.

So, any hotfix updates tonight, or is this break night?

 

That was my plan, really. Get a few pages made, punch in some basic info. Fix it up and correct errors, make it look nicer later.

 

oh its definitely break night. Things work okay right now, so pending game-crashing stuff I'll take my time. I need a breather for a night or two.
