Might be a silly question but uh, how do you survive on Infernus planets? I have the nano-skin, but I feel like I might of missed some sort of item or something for this.

 

All Frackin planets that damage you have a plant you can make and consume at the gene design lab to help survive them

 

I take it you can't grow the trees that drop protocyte on regular planets? i planted some and they just disappeared when they grew to full size. same with Kelp for that issue.

There's explanations on how to use the various machines on the mod's main page. Check them out. If you can't figure out where to get something, check out your alloy furnace or the lab crafting stations (biochem lab, matter assembler, etc.). If its not showing up there, try exploring biomes you haven't been to yet. There's loads of stuff to discover, so you'll get farther trying to discover it than just asking where to find everything.

Most things that can be extracted into something will tell you such, as well. And lot of other stuff is (usually) pretty straightforward concerning what will pop out when you extract it.

And if you're not finding it on planets and you don't see any option to craft it, it very well might be a recipe you need to learn by crafting something else or picking up something else.

So just explore. Do science. Discover.

Well, with the advent of the nanosuit techs, this is kinda "obsolete", so I'm willing to bet there will be more people asking why vanilla game resources aren't performing their intended functions on a modded world over time.

 

Yeah that's actually why I was a bit confused, I just really want to make my base on an Infernus planet >_>

 

It's by design. Vanilla nano suits basically act as quest checks and completely negate the existence of any environmental hazards once you have them equipped. I don't entirely agree with the solution but I also can't think of any alternatives to making dangerous places feel dangerous to endgame players.

 

I know this is really stupid of me... but generally, how long do you have to dig down for finding penumbrite on a penumbra planet?

 

It's oddly rare, but glows in the dark. I've basically never seen any, myself. You can extract energy trees for penumbrite ore or poke around in high tier chests because those seem to spawn it by the fistful.
