RELEASED FrackinRaces 5.3

Enables racial abilities for all Vanilla races, and many modded ones too!

    Novakids glow by default in Unstable now, so that effect was removed from them. If you are trying to use this without Unstable installed, try re-reading the front page of this mod.

    as for the race mods: use the built in search feature on this form. Why should someone else have to do that to provide you with links? Don't be lazy. Search.

    All that aside, it *should* work on existing characters since all it does is search their race and then apply an effect.

    Awesome idea! Starbound needed some racial abilities to make them feel more unique, does this work in multiplayer though? would everyone need to have the mod in order for it to work?

    with ANY mod that alters vanilla assets , you'll need it and so will anyone else on the server. Always assume that. but yes, it will work on multiplayer

    Wouldn't it make sense for Felins to take less fall damage with increased jumping, or they do and it's just not mentioned?

    No. Nor was that planned. It was an idea that someone shot my way. It's not a bad idea. But that doesn't mean it'll happen. :) I am going to rework races as I go, and have no idea what I'll be doign with them just yet.

    ok....they fall much faster underwater.....and take fall damage.....
    ....not too fond of this....

    and get increased protection underwater, and increasd health, and extra +1 perfect block . All underwater-based buffs.

    Fall damage has always been there. Just be more careful in the water.

    I'll see what I can do about reducing the fall damage in water though. Easy enough to set it to 0 when they are underneath the ocean :)

    Would it be possible to use this mod without the FrackinUniverse dependency? My server isn't interested in using FU, but we think this race ability mod looks really good.

    Hello world,

    very nice thing you have going here.
    I just noticed, that the Felins currently don't get their racial abilities, because internally the mod calls the species "felin" - as in singular.
    Proposed fix: in \scripts\raceEffects.lua you too remove the offending "s" (tried and confirmed that this works).

    Edit:
    Upon further fooling around with your code, I found that when you set the line

    self.powerModifier = config.getParameter("powerModifier", 1.08)

    instead of

    self.powerModifier = config.getParameter("powerModifier", 0)

    in your race*.lua

    then you don't need

    "powerModifier" : 1.08

    in your race*.statuseffect (though that one overrides the one from *.lua).

    So unless there was a specific reason for your setup in the first place (which is very possible, considering I am no coder) I might have found a teensy slice of potential for optimisation.
