(Frackin Universe) Question about body enhancers

Not sure what they are actually called, but in FU, there are medical space stations, and on them, there is this npc that will give certain buffs to you (Ex: There is a buff called "Glass Cannon", which doubles your damage but reduces your armor). The NPC says that the buffs stay on your character after death, but whenever I die, the buff is removed, so I have to go back to the station again to get it. Can I fix this by editing the mod (if so, how do I do it?). Or is this just a bug? I would highly appreciate it if someone answered my question.
