Fossil Expectations / Hopes?

I'm wondering what the community in general is hoping for in terms of fossils; desired frequency, difficulty of acquisition, and what kinds of things you could get for them.

As a farmer at heart, I do really hope there'll be ancient plants you can uncover and then farm back at your place. I would also approve of some sort of "mystery fossil" that could result in either something really cool or a dud. I feel like regardless of the frequency of fossils (I hope not too high, unless they're mostly trilobites or the like), there should be some skill involved in extricating them, and not just "hope you don't hit the wrong block". Maybe a minigame of some type?

What are your thoughts?

 

I kinda hope that there are different parts form different animals as in maybe there are 5 different skeleton parts of a mammuth so if i get all 5 i can either display it museum style or maybe even recreate the creature so that it may walk on the planet once again.
With the museum thing i kinda mean the way it is done in Animal crossing.

Also I hope we gonna need high tier mining items, that way exploration would still have a purpose at the end of the game

 

I just like to collect items. I'll find them all. Frequency probably wont matter because i'll be playing a while.

 

I hope I can walk around with a dinousaur head as a vanity hat.

 

As long as there's a Velociraptor type I can dig up then put a plaque on it that says "Clever Girl" then I will be happy.

I love collecting things for display in games, so a variety would be nice. Like you said plants and small organisms. Hopefully not too rare in case you mess up and break it all, you will still have a chance to get another without too terribly long. But not too common. Should be something people can see and be like, "Oh wow!"

 

I know they said some come to life but I hope it can be a pet not just a mob.

Plaques would be really neat. Just thinking off the top of my head, if monsters are made of random parts... what about assembling some fish tail, dinosaur body, mammoth head, and have that actually come to life? I know I assembled the Plesiosaur body with the Triceratops head in my home in Animal Crossing...

Maybe mixed combinations have a smaller chance of working or something.

imagine just building a museum like ithe one in animal crossing, get an avian to pose as blathers.

 

I will make Jurassic Park the Planet.

 

I definitely hope they are rare. And of course the abundance should be dependant upon how large the planet is.

 

Just please don't redo it 20 years later in 3D.

I think it will be fun trying to collect each one, or a set. I hope they make it so some are very common, and others you might search many planets without finding the next part.

I would like come common fossils, and a lot of insanely rare fossils (I mean like one on each planet [Of the rare ones])

And preferably a stand we can place fossils on, what's the point of a fossil if you can't brag about finding one?

 

I wouldn't mind if we could learn things/recipes from fossils. I'm an archaeologist, so I enjoy the thought of digging to unearth knowledge about other spacefaring folk who have come and gone.

That being said, maybe I have a sickness if I turn my day job into my recreation.....
