See THIS intrigues me. If we had foreground, items that allow us to peirce it would be completely viable creating an entirely new level of gameplay. It would introduce stealth, and espionage. For a PVP example, if I can somehow sneak into your base and plant a camera, It can allow my team to invade without fear of an ambush. On on the contrary, that intelligence would allow us to set up an ambush of our own if the enemy thought they were hidden. Seeing through structures always felt slightly out of place to me. Being able to manipulate the background was WONDERFUL, but it still felt incomplete.
And again also introduces counter-inteligence. In a pvp cenario it would actually make the teams be on their toes most of the time since only by scanning strange signals they'd be able to find these "hidden cams" or spies disguised Or maybe not, it can have lots of way to find infiltrators, it's up for the devs and the community to come up with these interesting ways though Costumizing these could allow you to create harder-to-detect tools or even cameras that explode in sharpnels when revealed by the enemy team.
Even some sort of hacking can be implemented to obtain control of the enemy cameras without them knowing or something, would depend heavily on how the camera would be implemented.
I didn't think of cameras. Figured that they would just include X-ray goggles to let people see behind walls.
Xray stuff would be too easy to be honest. Unless it uses energy or something otherwise too cheapo >.>
I like this idea of cameras to see behind foreground. Though I think that hacking the enemies cameras is far more beneficial then trying to covertly set-up a camera on your own. Not quite clear on this 'color/frequency' thing. I'd figured it would be simple if you just set-up your camera and presto you and your team-mates can see behind the walls for some distance. Then the enemy can hack that then they see through it too.
Whatever happens with these I will be happy either way but it would add another... layer to gameplay B|
The only problem arises when you can't see your character. Since most games are character-centered, It would be somewhat of a problem if you couldn't see him.
Thats the idea. Foreground should be to make some things secrets when you look at them from the outside, but when you are inside you can at least see the whole room you are currently in. Of course nearby rooms should also be hidden if there is something blocking your view.
This could be very useful in multiplayer when you want to hide from other players. Heck you probably could hide a whole town underground if you can have a dirt forewall.
