I Think it will be a cool idea if when you right click your weapon would holster or unholster. Some weapons have a unique feature that allows them to fold like corvo's sword in dishonoured or like a balisong knife. this will be fun to play around with

also THIS GAME NEEDS STEALTH :fusrodah::cookie:

I don't think there's enough detail with the games weapons to do this and make it look good. Plus it's kind of pointless.

  4. Watch the i49 stream again and focus on the Penguin Soldiers and how they holster/draw their weapons to shoot.
It CAN BE done, and it's not pointless.

That sounds really COOL it would definately make me show off to some newbs that my sword opens up like megatron changes to a jet. Also minigames would be preety fun especially if you could do them with other players. Say theres a pressure plate in a cave and you cant get around it. None of you want to go so you decide who looses a game of tic tac toe or rock paper scissors goes on and finds out what the pressure plate does. There could also be a way to place bets that you will win:megusta:! :D

Why would you even put that in there? They are the bane of good gameplay!
I sincerely hope (and believe) that the devs won't stoop that low.

That said, stealth would be nice.
Considering a recent post about guards remarking on the player going around town with a weapon drawn, I'm guessing it's already possible to sheathe weapons.

I would say puzzle elements.... I mean imagine finding a abandoned temple on a planet, and having some Indiana Jones like traps that require thinking a little about how to bypass them.

The only problem with that in a sandbox game like Starbound is that if logic was to be involved, puzzles couldn't really be generated, so you'd just have a small number of premade puzzles being reused in a lot of dungeons. While they might have been interesting the first time, once you knew the solution, they'd get tedious quickly.
If they could find a clever way to implement it that avoids that issue, then it would be neat, but I don't see any way that could be solved, and unless it is, I'd say puzzles are better suited for statically designed games like the Zelda series.

Wait. This is strange. You're talking about sheathing/unsheathing your weapon, however there is a poll... Alright, I guess I got you.

    Anyway, there is slight problem.
1)Stealth. It can be implemented, but do you really need this? It is quite hard to implement and besides, you won't ever need this. Maybe. I mean, if you attack a village chief from behind, while you're in stealth, you may kill him, yeah. But will it help you against the guards? Not sure.
2)Puzzles. Puzzles are okay until they kill the player instantly when solved wrongly. Why so harsh, you might ask? Well, it's because 90% of players prefer breaking blocks to get to the treasure instead of solving the puzzle. It can be overcome by making special blocks, which cannot be broken, like bedrock in minecraft. But I doubt it'll be done.
3)Quicktime events. Nothing to say, good idea so far.
4)Sheathing/Unsheathing weapon. It'll take some time to add to game, so if they make it - it'll be after beta release.

I was thinking more of puzzles in the dungeons. That way they can't destroy their way through the puzzle, and the puzzles penalty for failure doesn't have to be entirely lethal.

Dungeon blocks can be mines likewise. Think twice.

I'm pretty sure dungeon blocs are un-minable till the 'dungeon heart' is destroyed in the dungeon.

What's with the extra stuff in the poll in a suggestion about sheathing weapons? It's probably best that you focus on one suggestion per topic so you can actually flesh it out. Instead here we all are talking about everything else.

Anyway, basic stealth has already been implemented. Crouching + Walking puts a character into "sneak mode" that lets them pass by some enemies unnoticed.

But it's already been done. Dungeons cannot be broken apart or have their blocks taken until the item that is protecting the dungeon is destroyed. The devs have said this is typically found at the end of the dungeon, usually after the dungeon's boss has been defeated. It's been mentioned in past updates, and you can read about it on the roadmap as well. So that problem has been fixed from the start!

And no one said anything about puzzle failure leading to instant death anyway. Having a puzzle shoot darts or drop rocks on you doesn't necessarily equate to death unless the player was already severely hurt to begin with. I do get your point about such penalties not really being necessary though if they end up detracting players from wanting to attempt them.
