I'm not sure if anyone has posted this idea, since I'm too lazy to search. If this idea has already been posted, please inform me. What I was thinking was that maybe after it rains alot, if rain is implemented, then the following day could be foggy. The fog would work kind of like the dark, in which it obviously covers your vision, but you would always be able to see a small area around you. There could be planets that have fog all the time, for one reason or another. For example, there could be a heavily polluted planet where there's a black smoke that acts like fog. This is just an idea of mine.
Sounds good to me! I mentioned it in my thread too Would be great to have more drastic changes in weather conditions on one planet. Going out in the fog would be completely different to exploring on a nice sunny day! Maybe there could be some plants that only spawn when the weather is foggy to add some risk/reward decisions into the mix. Go out in the fog and get the rare plants but maybe get jumped by monsters, or stay inside where it's safe?
Those are some really good ideas, Alvin! It would be cool to find some sort of fog flowers which could be used to make smoke bombs or something. I was keeping it somewhat simple so the developers wouldn't have to do as much work, but that doesn't make your ideas bad!
Hehe yeah. It's easy enough to add a few spawn requirements based on weather though, just a simple tick box basically They may already have fog in anyway depending on how in depth they're planning to go with their weather system! The problem with smoke bombs is that it's hard to code the AI to deal with them and you usually just end up obscuring your own view rather than affecting enemies hehe. Might be cool just for decoration if you could have different coloured smoke though.
Hello! I think Fog of War has been crossed off the list unfortunately. Weather conditions are probably different though. I think the idea is that you can zoom out of the screen depending on your gear, so snipers have a better field of vision.
Yeah fog of war would be annoying blackness covering the areas that you haven't yet visited. This is about normal fog as a weather type It would work well with snipers too, meaning that they couldn't always just pick everything off from a long way away if they weren't able to see that far in the fog.
Fog could really add to the transition between night and day, I think. You get a minute or so of fog before it lifts. Not debilitatingly thick fog, mind you; just enough to see it on the edges of your screen but not inhibit vision around your character.
