Closed Flying Monsters deal damage after death

    Like the title says, when you kill a flying monster, it will deal damage to the player if the player touches its body before it poofs. In fact the player takes damage any time they touch a hostile air creature.

    Yeah, flying creatures are a pain. Then again, perhaps they are supposed to be. Wouldn't say this is a bug necessarily...

    Being a pain I am fine with, but as I understood it monsters in Starbound are only superposed to do damage on attack, not on touch. Moreover, even if this is not the case, monsters definitely should not be able to harm the player after they are dead.

    Though I suppose a bird corpse nearly the size of you landing on your head would hurt... If it was intentional, the damage needs to be reduced.

    Problem is, it isn't only when they fall on you, if they fall to the ground and you walk onto it before it disappears you take damage and get knocked back.

    I had a complaint about this earlier, myself. Most every enemy does give death-contact damage to some extent, but the birds are the absolute worst offenders because they need to fall out of the sky first, and that 2 seconds of falling and flashing effectively becomes a deathbomb dropping on your head. It'd be nice if they could just make dead enemies immediately poof out instead of making them flash a couple of times, first.

    Yeah it does look like it they are supposed to be, but it could be a bug but i think thats not the case.

    You just took the words out of my mouth haha, I had this issue as well and was gonna report it as well!

    Certainly it's annoying, especially if you're low on health and get hit after the final blow!
    But beta is beta and I know this pesky issue won't last long as the beta goes!

    Yeah good point about low health and your right a beta is a beta so there still is time this could be fixed.

    I think the knockback of dead enemies and birds in general should be reduced - It's bloody ridiculous knockback! I die from the falls half the time!

    I wouldn't want them to immediately poof. One of my favorite things is when a monster jumps me and I samurai slash it in half and it lands wide eyed behind me. So far as I can tell, since the update monsters no longer deal damage on touch when dead, only the flying ones. Hence why I suspect this is a bug.

    Definitely agree with this. Admittedly it should probably be scale able based on the monsters stats and size but really, a tiny little bird fly up and shoots one tiny spike at me and I go rocketing off the side of a mountain at 30mps.

    As a side note, that sprint burst power is really good at countering this. Just sprint back in the direction of the mountain to get back to it before you fall too far.
