Flyable Dropship/Mech Transport.

I'm suggesting that the drop-ship shown below can be flown on the surface of the planet and be used to transport mechs. I understand that this might already be planned, but just in case they are only going to be used as a transporter to the surface and not actually flyable, I made this thread in the hopes that the devs will see this idea.


In my nerd-ish fantasies, I would be able to (with my friends) have planet exploration squads which are dropped off via dropship, or if battling some huge creature I would be able to drop off some friends in mechs as back-up. Click here to see the kind of epic scene I imagine. Just even dropping off a group of mechs to explore some distant cave sounds awesomely fun.

I think it would be awesome to have a dropship in the game, I would love flying around and dropping off soldiers, ah, reminds me of Halo.​

Lol the devs made that artwork xD. Anyways, i think that would be awesome! It would add a halo-like aspect to the game which would be well... awesome in my opinion! Mechs...GO!

I think this would be awesome to fly ships, I think that is what I would probably do most of the game if you could. Fly around laughing at the ground critters, innocently thinking they can't hurt you from all the way down there...oh how we can be so wrong...LOL!

 

Suddenly your laughter is interrupted by the pilot yelling, "ENGINES FAILING!"....

 

Well yeah for sure dude, I AM the pilot and yes I would probably be yelling that and a whole bunch of profanity afterwards...

Yes, that is all I can say to this. If I can't drop off my giant solid titanium mech with rockets and flamethrowers now I shall be very disappoint.

If you can't fly that ship then at least I hope there will be other aircrafts available in the game for transporting players or other things to any location on the map / world.

 

This would be epic

However, we must keep a balance. It would have to be an end-game item, very expensive, and maybe have a long cooldown.
OP things are bad for a game, so don't go asking for OP things (even if it would be epic).

 

its been said its going to become a mini base for the planet your exploring so i doubt itll be flyable but they also said it transports stuff you made on your space station so you never know if they introduce other flying craft it could bring em down for you

Dear god PLEASE let this happen! this would change whole gameplay and feeling to the game,this needs to happen.

Depending on map size, maybe we could even add fast-flying attack jets/bombers? It'd also be pretty sick to see passenger-capable gunships.

 

Reminds me of star wars with the LAAT Gunships that could drop off giant 6 legged tanks!
