Florans occurrences

A couple of things I want to comment of the Florans

First, the image that is used to select a male floran shows a bald floran having leaves on the ears, but the bald hairstyle does not have those leaves, those leaves are only shown in the following hairstyle.



This makes me think that it is this hairstyle, but that is not displayed correctly.


Second, the floran ship is too... pink. Not that I have anything against pink, but it's a color that does not fit for male eyes. It is a race of hunters, and can do amazing male characters, but more than one would think twice just for the color pink. A more neutral color, like a very light brown, is also one more related color to the florans, not like pink (the ship, the plant is fine), which only gives a feminine touch.




Hairstyle recycling ??

 

Not a botanist or anything, but bright colors in plants are evolutionary traits to attract bees for pollination. A race that are based on plants... were to be expected a palette like that.

 

Pink in plants does not bother me, but the surface of the ship is another story.

 

Pink was once seen as a masculine color, and this is an alien culture, so I can't say it bothers me that much.

That is actually true. Plus, it's a color, if you dislike it so, modify it out. On the second hand, it is not an ugly shade of pink as you call it. It is fairly pleasant to look upon.

 

I honestly didn't even notice the pink on the ship until you pointed it out now. It's very subtle. And they are plants. They are supposed to be colorful!

 

Am I the only one that finds it funny that OP is complaining about pink when his default picture is blindingly so?

 

I was thinking to say something about that but I prefered not to.

 

Well, it was a subjective opinion, I see it's not a widespread impression.

Edit: About my avatar, I always saw it as purple... and I dont hate the pink but in this case I dont know...

 

It's a subjective opinion based on tired gender stereotypes. Also I wouldn't recommend switching languages in mid-thread.

 

I just wish they used a different template for the Floran ship. It's just the apex ship with a few changes and vines on it. While I don't like the idea of sharing a similar ship, it looks much better with the vine on a glitch ship. Would prefer if it looked more organic than a ship though, I understand they originally gained the technology through thievery and salvaging but in order to truly use it they would have to understand it. This would lead them to building their own ships with their own style.

 

So if it's not fit for male eyes it's ugly and should be changed?

I disagree. They do not enjoy building their own thing. They don't really seem to enjoy building at all. They live in thatch huts.

 

I think something more asexual, but I can not deny that it may have to do with some of my own prejudices. Again it's just a opinon...

 

Hadn't even noticed it had a rose tint until you pointed it out.


edit: Also, Florans are asexual, so I don't know of gender norms applies to them.

 

Why must we force it to be asexual? For everyone "PINK IS TOO GIRLY" male there is a "I love this pink color" female.
In fact, sometimes that female is even male.

 

You want to play as a floran and you're complaining about the pink? Come on!

 

The only problem I have with it being pink is that it's supposed to be reverse engineered Apex tech even going so far as to look near identical to the ship Apex characters get. That means the only way it would become pink would be for them to paint it so. Floran don't strike me as the artistic type.

i believe it said somewhere that they are good at reverse engineering? maybe it was another race, but if that was so, they probably found things out with trial and error.
