Floran ships need reworking.

Now Molly must be either trolling or trippin'. She seriously said the Floran Ship was her favorite. Also, the mockups you guys made looks nice, but I still feel they need their own designs.

 

It could be interesting if the floran ship looked like a floating greenhouse, that would be cool.

 

Would be interesting if the Floran overgrowth would randomly take on any of the other races' ships when you start. Makes it more clear that their unique characteristic is to take over other ships.

But this can definitely wait until after Beta.

I second the idea of having vines that can attach to any type of ship. I also like the idea of them having their own unique ship. The only problem is that GeorgeV already made this version of the Floran ship, and it clearly took a great deal of work. We might just have to face the possibility that a unique interior background and cockpit might be the best we're gonna get.

 

Maybe it could be a ship with the outer hull stripped off? All the other ships presumably look about the same behind the back walls. Could be any one (or several) of the ships, really.

Still holding out for some patches of moss on the exterior to add a bit more green.

 

Personally, all I think it needs is a new background and a couple more vines. Not too many, but more than is already there. The background should have vines on it too, and the metal a little more roughed up. That's all.

 

The floran ship design would be a whole lot better in my opinion, if it is randomly generated with parts from different ships. Of course, since the floran gained their space traveling capabilities through the Avians, it would be more appropriate for their ship to be more avian in structure.

 

Needs more moss.

 

I'm very surprised to see this thread!
The moment I saw the Floran ship I thought "Awesome!"

It has such a nice blend of cute and creepy to me.
Kinda like Gremlins... or Asura. Or Sylvari. Or animated movies involving Tim Burton's style.

The new Floran ship also really captures what Florans are said to do in the lore:
Steal ships instead of building them.

There's a very good reason it doesn't have a consistent theme: It's not meant to!
It's a stolen Apex ship with some vines wrapped around it for decoration. (Possibly for protection or intimidation?)


The old one, while really cool too, looks more like it was made out of plants rather than being a stolen ship with plants growing on it.

The new one's background wall could maybe use some small vines, but other than that I like it the way it is.

 

I was personally hoping for a more rickety look and I would have been super-happy it it had been the front half of one races ship slapped onto the back half of a different races ship. I do not mind the vines in space, you can always explain those with science and/or a floran knack for breeding plants. But if vines in space is all we are getting to signify it is a floran ship, then it seems not a lot of tought has gone into the design.

That is not to say the design is bad. I just expected it to be a lot more slapped-together.

I like except the fish people interior and the weird gun/engine thing on the right top of the interior.

 

Now that is what i expect a floran ship to look like! with a few fixes and touch ups that would be an amazing ship

 

It's my favorite, too.

I just think it needs it's own unique interior (and maybe a dirtier-colored exterior).

 

I wholly agree with this although I think it should incorporate at least one element from the current one
