There should be more colors for flashlights. Three should be red flashlights. Three should be orange flashlights. Three should be yellow flashlights. Three should be green flashlights. Three should be blue flashlights. Three should be purple flashlights. Three should be black flashlights. Three should be white flashlights. I also think there should be a holo flashlight. It would project something that you need to find or a schematic. It could also be used to signal allies to fight. There should be batteries that need to be replaced and new light bulbs that make them better. The flashlights could also be redone. They could have directx 11 HBAO lighting effects. This could completely revolutionize 2d genre. I think there should be more lighting settings in the graphics options (there should be graphics options).
Or better yet, choose the color of your flashlight from a color palette (or some similar thing) so we can have MANY more colors! Support

Hell, give us a way to change the flashlight lens so we can make it whatever color we want. But I dislike the idea of batteries and your description for the holo flashlight doesn't make much sense. Finally, I don't see a need to use a DX11 feature that many people may not have access to. The current lighting code for it works fine. Also, the number of times you wrote "Three" instead of "There" was mildly humorous.
Why do we need to have multicolored Flashlights? I admit, I like the green one. But I don't really see the point of them. Torches and the Lantern Stick provide enough light.
Why do we need vanity items or multiple colors of dirt or different customization choices for making a character? We don't, but it makes the game more interesting.
There should be miner helmets. to craft them you need a flashlight, 2 leather, 6 iron ingots and 3 steel ingots. it gives you character a personal light around them so you can see in the dark without a torch or flashlight, also allowing you to hold a weapon or pickaxe. it would look a like a traditional yellow construction hat with a light on the end.I don't know what the description should be, though. You guys reply and tell me what you think and what the description should be!
It gives you something to collect. It makes things interesting. It's like saying "why do we need gun camos in call of duty" It's something to strive for. And with that type of attitude why do we need ANYTHING in starbound? why not just make it game where you run around and do nothing.
I like the idea of multiple colours of flashlights, but not so fond on the battery requirements. If you're using a flashlight as it is, you're most likely out in the dark praying you're not eaten by the Grue. Or down in the depths.. praying you're not eaten by a floran (mmm, cave people are nicely pickled). So having to hunt down batteries, or have them be random drops from monsters might bog down the system. After all, they already drop pixels, hardened plates, and cell materia. Adding something else to that randomosity might be more of a detriment than a bonus. On the upside, a purple flashlight would make me so very very happy. Or at least some sort of lavender lighting for my ship. To promote that romantic cannibalistic atmosphere.
Something of that function already exists, it's called a Lantern Stick. And I know yellow, green and orange already exist, I have all those colours on one of my characters.
