Flashlight is gone.

I lost my flashlight by dropping it accidently, not just like that, but it dropped in a dark deep cave, I jumped inside and survived with low hp, put some torch on the wall but I never found my flashlight. Now I've been playing 6 hours without flashlight and it's kind of annoyign and a big waste of coal ore (making more torches).

Is there any way to get my flashlight back without needing to restart my character?

I'll ask another question, I found a Senseless Bladeblocker (shield), dragged it to the upper bar on 'R', but when I hover my mouse over it it says: "This item needs to have a description set". Any help is welcome to solve my problems.

    Thanks!

Flashlights are actually pretty commonly found in chests I believe and they come in a variety of different colors, although I do prefer to have the original 'white' light.

Sometimes I've found digsite dungeons where on the surface there's a bunch of tents and you'll find an entrance to the site filled with monsters. The crates in them often have flashlights, sometimes of different colors.

Yeah, shields don't have any descriptions yet but they still work partially.

You can find flashlights (of varying colours) in chests throughout different planets, so just go looking for one. Good luck.

Yeah Flashlights appear in chests fairly often - On my pre-Koala character I managed to find a blue, red and yellow one on the same planet.

Personally though, I don't use them much - They're mostly useful on the surface, since you'll be placing lanterns everywhere underground.

Damn, being unlucky then I suppose. Opened around 6 chests the last 3 hours. Found other cool stuff though :)

Anyway, thank you all for your answers, I'm satisfied!

I've found yellow/red/green/normal flashlights, but is there actually one that gives a blue-colored light?

None that I have seen - It's just the handles that are coloured for me.

I mostly agree, I like to have my flashlight underground when falling in a deep waterpool, as there u cant put on a torch on the wall before you cleared some water out of the room. It's something I like to have with me :)

I've always got around that in Terraria and Starbound by making small air pockets above the water and putting torches. The game doesn't simulate air supply so they are fine in the small pockets.

Shields don't have proper descriptions yet, so you don't need to do anything on your part.

If you've gotten past the first boss I'd definitely recommend making the lantern on a stick, it's not a TON of light but it's great for underwater or when you first enter a cave, before you start setting up torches. Heck, I went spelunking with nothing besides it for light and it worked out great...I just wouldn't recommend not leaving a trail back to the surface, like I did.
