SB DOESN'T WORK ON MAC. PERIOD. FIX IT NOW.

 

That's not the most nice thing you can write in a forum... I mean you could have worded it better so it doesn't sound as rude.

 

Or, you know, just typed in regular letters instead of caps.

 

Or... idk... make a post on the technical support forum explaining your problem with running SB ?

You've already posted this as a bug, this is unnecessary and doesn't reflect positively/in your favour. Mods, Maybe lock?

 

Also, Starbound DOES run on Macs, I've been playing for the past hour.

To those who can't run it, simply run it outside of steam.

Kirby64: Starbound refuses to startup on my Mac, I can apparently run it by starting it without steam, but I don't have a clue as to how to do that. Can you help?
Mute: Okai.
Mute: Open Steam.
Kirby64: It's already open.
Mute: Go to Starbound in the library.
Kirby64: ok
Mute: Right click > Properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files
Kirby64: I'm there...
Mute: I use Windows, so the application is in the "win32" file
Mute: But since you use mac, the files might be different
Mute: Do you have an OS folder?
Kirby64: nope ;n;
Kirby64: Just
Kirby64: A Starbound application
Mute: Try that then
Kirby64: It worked.

(I'm feeling too lazy to type something proper out right now.)

Works perfectly fine on my 2 year old macbook with OSX 10.8.5.

Quite frankly I'm impressed/surprised/thankful ChuckleFish even bothered to bring this to Mac, especially for the Beta release.

 

I'm not sure why I'm responding to this, but:

1) Delete your player/ and universe/ directories to get rid of pre-Furious characters/worlds.
2) If it still doesn't work, disable the Steam Overlay.
