Okay, could someone please clarify for me what spots exactly count as Ponds, which as Lakes, River, and so on, for the purposes of what kind of fish can be caught there? And can fish be caught in the small ponds on your farm plot at all, or just always junk? I mean to ask mostly because I've got a quest to go catch 3 carp and I have absolutely no idea where on the map to go to do that. All the wiki articles and such are actually really opaque about the WHERE of things like this. (Something which we need to improve on, for those of you inclined to edit it!)
The large body of water in the forest is a lake, the water next to it is of course a river, the body of water in the farms are ponds, the body of water in the secret forest is a pond, the body of water by the mountains is a lake, the large body of water to the south is a ocean
The lake near the Mine entrance, the river that goes through town, and the Ocean are the three main locations you should be dealing with. Carp can easily be caught in the lake in front of the Mines.
Thank you. xD It seems silly, but for all I know the definitions are completely arbitrary and not being used to determine which fish appear there at all. For example, the wiki claims that the 'lake' in question has 'river fish' -- wtf.
Hence my confusion. The sources of information on such things are incomplete and confusing right now, would really appreciate if someone clarified the wiki. Maybe add a new page just detailing locations for each category of fish; Preferably with pictures. xD The one I'm referencing is stardewvalleywiki.com
I don't know how old this thread is but I have a question. Can anyone identify the difference between the mountain lake & the mountain pond plz?!
From what I know, there is no difference. In game it is called the mountain lake. I guess people just also started calling it a pond at some point.
