Bug/Issue Fishing Pole Bug on Desktop Computer

Hi there! Love the game and have been playing for a few months now. But lately I've been having majoring issues with fishing. Whenever I cast my pole and wait for a fish, if the red ! shows up saying I caught something, I click and nothing happens (i.e. I dont catch anything, the pole just gets pulled out of the water with nothing attached). This is frustrating since I love fishing and havent been able to do it for awhile now. I tried unattaching then reattaching bait to my rod and that helped for a bit then went back to not working. I play the game on my desktop computer. Anyone know any fixes for this?
