Awesome job man! I've taken a try at pixel art...but so far it has ended up...interesting.Keep up the awesome work! I like using Paint.net, its a free program. It has a lot of nice tools and feels like a downgraded version of photoshop. (Really downgraded, but its still a nice program. ) http://www.getpaint.net/
Cool Marine, with the white dots on him you might want to change the background to a different color though, but that is just IMO. Edit: That is if the background isn't already set to transparent, and just showing white on here.. If your having problems with transparency you might want to change the file type to png Also ya might want to make a "Sprite Sheet" use what ya have to make the different movements, like jumping, running, walking, etc. If you got all those, then you could literally take that sheet and plop it right into some game or something on those lines.
you need to keep up the good work man, seriously this is better then what I can do haha, I'm not a good spriter
Ah thank you! I have been saving the files as png, but I need to make sure the background is transparent. And I'll work on sprite sheets for animation as well, that would be fun! Thanks!
Lizard m an! Still trying to figure out how to get rid of background color i'll probably just draw in backgrounds haha
If your using paint.net this might help. Though I don't know if making transparent will actually show on here, it depends on how the Alpha is kept, or not.. I think. I am not some Pixel Art person I just dabble to make whats out there fit to what I need heh But here ya go, what I use in Paint.net to make sure things are transparent is go to the Color Tool, select white.. Go to Custom Color, and change my Transparency Alpha all the way down. If you know that then there isn't much more I can suggest, other then.. A black background maybe? =) heh Edit: You will know transparency is there from the Checkered Background.. Not the white one.
Yeah, I use paint.net to make my sprites with a transparent bg too. I usually change the background to a color that's totally different from the sprite and then use the magic wand on the bg. Ctrl+X and boom. Transparent.
i like them. especially the shading on the space marine is nicely done. i already have problems with shading starbound characters, i would completely screw up on sprites this big
Cool dude. Is this really you're first attempt? That's pretty friggin awesome if you ask me. better than anything I could ever do
Hey man you should just mess around in Photoshop or Paint sometime and see what you come up with! I was kinda surprised myself of what I could do just based on getting down to the lowest scale and learning the right shading and placement of pixels. I'd definitely recommend to anyone just messing around and seeing what you can make
Oh i've tried spriting. but the most I have ever done is draw door's for my bro's uni work Being a game nerd kinda runs in the family
