First-Time Character Resources Total Cost List

    My dear Starbound people:

I present you a list I had made some time earlier to assess the approximate cost of reaching the highest tier and enjoy some (if not all) of the available amenities. The list that follows expresses the total cost assuming you complete the breakdown annex further down, and that you are doing it for your first character.

For second and further characters the costs are substantially narrowed since most of the stations are already built for them by your previous character, but that is a matter for another list which given the time I might post.

I'll be leaving this here for the weekend and probably part of the next week too, so if there are some errors, please point them out for me in the thread. They'll be fixed as soon as possible.

    Much love.

    -333

Took me a moment to understand the purpose of this thread. At first I thought you were trying to sell me something, possibly in the form of a multiplayer trading list, but then I realized that its just a list indicating how much each item costs in terms of materials and quantities. I approve :)

Thank you @IvoryOwl ! No multiplayer for me yet though. Only trying to give other players what they can expect to need more or less. I simply HATED jumping from one planet to the other without realizing I should've gathered a minimum of materials before departing. You know, quickly going off into some higher tier planet for other kinds of metals and forgetting that you might need a bit more of Titanium or something else that cannot be acquired without jumping back like a drunk flea D:

That's interesting but I think you may have forgotten to include the fuel travel expense.

Fiben, muh man, that I cannot possibly calculate because it depends on the person playing. Weapon costs and traveling are aspects that I cannot calculate because it is intrinsically individual. Just to put an example: I stopped crafting armors at around Gold-tier and focused on simply avoiding hostile creatures and gathering all the bare minimum metal ores to jump from one upgrade to the other until I could directly craft an Impervium-tier armor.

It was hard, but I couldn't be bothered. Now though I got one set of each tier, but you see, other player could have painstakingly upgraded his tier one by one. I instead chose to try all what was possible to get to the Impervium one. Also, there were many an embarrassing trek back into lower-tier planets because I was too short on this or that basic metal. I simply don't fathom other players being that stupid lol :D

But thanks, I think that I'll take that task. Players should also at least know the minimum cost of a sectorial jump. Now planet to planet, or system to system jumps? Those depends on the player. If they assume the task of depleting fully the planet they're upon, well, the cost is theoretically low (though the time invested is quite high). I used to just keep planet-hopping from one desert biome to the other and only take surface ore. I just had to speed through it D:

Anyway, g2g friends! Have a good weekend!

You can skip tiers of armor though. For example, get to tier 4, unlock X sector, jump to tier 6, then 8, then 10.

I only brought it up because, even given an ideal spawn, you have to jump to higher tier sectors to for the materials to advance. But, since you're going for bare minimum numbers, then assume the minimum amount of sector jumps based on ideal one-shot ground falls with no planet or system jumps.

That whole skipping sectors is new to me, probably because, after starting a new toon several times, I've never gone beyond tier three. In other words, I'm not that MLG so what the hell do I know.

Nifty list. Might come in handy one day, though you'll have to keep updating it!

  11. There's already a google doc that's been around forever that tells you the exact minimum amount of resources you need to get past each sector. I dont have the link off hand but if I find it I'll post it up.

You do get an E for effort though since this list adds items. :)

Darn it, didn't know D: Well thanks anyways lol :D

Milan Mree, I'll try to keep it updated, but no promises!

Kailen4, you are right, but it was assuming that you follow the list I posted. I did the same though, skipped to last tier when I had the materials, but then crafted the rest of armors anyway out of greed.

And yes, you're right Fiben Bolger, I should add that cost, but not for now since I really got no idea. I am by no means MLG, haha, just like this game a lot. Thanks though, for the notice :D

  13. Rainbow Dash

you need to add 800 to coal as you need it for sector jumps
becouse you need new planets to spawn the higher tiered ore

You've also forgotten that you need 4 diamond ore per diamond, as opposed to 2 ore for the other ores.

For some, the starting ones that require a full set of copper, iron, silver or gold armor. The rest though? They don't.

As for weapons I haven't checked because costs would vary between player choices.

What I get from lore, more or less, is that "pixel" is a termin to lump together all those random bits of raw / elaborated resources that aren't the ones individualized by the game (copper, unrefined wood, etc...) That would explain why wild animals drop "currency" anywhere you go.

Say that there is some weird animal whose bones are made of different minerals or have valuable parts of them that can be traded (like ivory in real life), or used to fabricate something else. Maybe the tech of this setting allows to extract minerals from their bodies, etc...

Dunno, man, I think of it as an universal system to measure wealth, much different than currency. Not like opening your wallent and counting the coins and bills you got there, but more of a summed value of say whatever is in front of you. Like take a look at your table and try to estimate how much money would you get by selling absolutely everything on sight, from the shortest pencil to the table itself.
