First Boss

Maybe we're just meant to have found lots of bombs. Bombs seem to work disproportionately well on it.

 

So I beat the UFO and he dropped a Molten Core. Now what? Is that the end of the tutorial, because i didn't get any pop up saying congrats or that I was finished. I did make a new anvil using the metal core, but i'm just not sure if there is more to the tutorial or not???

 

anyone could defeat it with iron gear without trapping or glitching?

 

I was on full iron armor, iron bow and a poisonblade... died like a hundred times BUT killed it in the end. I got one-shotted by it's laser bolts and the dynamite pinguins (these animals shouldn't be trusted to use explosives!). My pixelcount dropped from 2500 to about 50.

But it is still beta and some rebalancing will be done here i guess. Also they should add some quests to make you get better gear before sending you off to the "Flying Pinguin of Death"!

I have yet to see how much your character improves on survivability (more health? more armour?) in the later tiers. I haven't seen much of it yet, But that is what makes this fun. We are explorers!!

I beat the boss legit with a pair of friends. Basically, you need really awesome gear. I was decked out with a legendary weapon I got of a lvl 7 rare mob (the big ones with the red bubble-y buff around em), and I was wearing 2 silver armor pieces and my iron tier racial chestplate. For healing, I made a TON of carrot breads, because the healing on those things is INSANE right now. Even with all that, I risked getting killed very quickly if I didnt immediately burn down any Rocket/Dynamite Penguins or Tanks. My friends were in iron tier gear and had iron bows and some decent heavy-damage crap spears to man the base and poke the boss while I assaulted it.

We built an arena of sorts - a sort of bunker people could hide under from the boss' smash attack and laser barrage moves, and it made a decent place to heal for a second in an emergency as well. But we didnt trap the thing - just put a few free-floating platform levels on top of the bunker.

Oh, and the boss DOES teleport. It starts to at maybe 1/4 hp (was really paying attention). Though maybe its not so much a teleport as an invisibilty move, was hard to tell since we didnt trap it.


Edit:
PROTIP 1 - you can leave your starting world whenever you want! Coal and Wood can be used as fuel - go around to different planets and look for shops or dungeons for tech/weapons.

PROTIP 2 - the deeper you go, the more common rarer stuff tends to become, and the higher the threat level, the more common you see things at higher levels. Make a good pick, go to a new planet, dig down til the digging slows down alot, and find yourself a dirt/gravel area at that point and just look around.

 

I gave up at the second attempt, the loss of resources (time sunk in that) is just too much

No, no. With the updated anvil the really nice next tier gear opens up. You are more or less done with the tutorial stage at that point. Time to start exploring and building.

 

Actually, on one Arid Planet I've been on(the only one actually) there Were a few trees. not many, just a few. Also, I'm pretty sure Ty said that you will Always Start on a Forest Planet, that way, you'll always have enough materials
to progress from the staring point. And, yeah, digging down, I've found a Huge Amount of Ore

 

I just trapped the boss in cobblestone bricks and then whacked away with a 2H sword

 

Well, trapping was viable for a day. Tiy is making it to where it smashes blocks now. Time to go home, guys.

For anyone having problems with the beacon disappearing, if you don't mind cheating, beam up to your ship, go to the 3D Pixel Printer and place the beacon in the red square that has a scan button under it (don't push that button) Just press escape and you'll have 2 beacons. Do this as many times as desired, I have 10 beacons now and still doing it.

 

In a lot of ways, games like this are defined community wise by which faction is more prevalent: Those that feel that walling in a boss to hit em through a 1-tile window is totally fine gameplay wise and a satisfying experience, and those who think the opposite.

 

I think they need to make it so either you can get a tier higher of gear before ufo or just maybe half the ufos hp?

Indeed, I'm sure they will, but for the moment, we can make use of it

 

Just beat the first boss! Silver armour and an iron hunting bow. Difficult, but I made a small structure to hide in and didn't take very many hits. Took quite a while to down him.

 

I don't see an issue. I downed him just a minute ago in mostly copper.
