Long time HM and RF player since I could take them along to work and such. PC time is only for World of Warcraft but in a moment of weakness a couple of days ago, I finally downloaded this game. Been watching it for over a year - looked like a silly primitive version of Harvest Moon, a blatant rip-off and fugly to boot. Scoffed at the Xmas sale - what game would be worth anything if it's $10?!? I had to stop playing after two days to go to work (I think I fed my husband, showered and stuff along the way... maybe). Yes, instant addiction. Just as I figured. There are some issues that are teeth-grinding...WASD? I'm no keyboard turner! My fingers get all tangled trying to move around, especially fighting the stupid monsters in the Mine (why are there monsters in the mine?). Found the options and cleared off E and F so I stop getting hit in the face with my inventory everytime I missed the keys. Is there a mod or option to move with my mouse (click to move)? Anyway, I just wanted to say I was wrong and this is an excellent game - Summer first year, broke and frantically growing crops. Should've never looked at that 40 page "Show Your Farm" thread...now I feel sick looking at my just started and looks like a dump farm. It will improve, gold will become useless later, everything happens in time for all these types of games - but I want farm animals now! /grr Okay, done ranting like a crazy woman. Thank you. ps. will be asking a lot of dumbass questions along the way. Even with info out there since this game is "established" now, newbies must still be playing and confused as me. =P pps. what's up with the lousy fishing mechanics? Need more halp than the wiki. If I had gold, I'd upgrade my dumb rod...that's prolly what it takes to catch more fish than just anchovies.
Okay so I went to Best Buy and thought I'd buy a little laptop to play this at work then realized it's out on Switch. So would I have to buy the game again for Switch even tho I *just* bought this PC version 2 days ago?
Depends, if you played stardew on steam for less than 2 hours you can refund (but I bet you played it for more than 2 already)
Uhh yup. hehe. Waaay more than 2 hours. It was instant addiction. I really want it to be portable and I can play without mods. Back to Best Buy during lunch!

Welcome to the game. I have played this off and on for a couple years, but just got instantly re-addicted over the weekend and played waaay too much! Welcome to the community.
Thanks all. I'm really enjoying this game on Switch - way more than the default PC one. I can move without getting my fingers all tangled doing W CAPLOCK errm A..S..E wut stop opening the menu!...E no dammit, D. I needa kill that green blob thing! Life is much better now, yup.
Totally this. I ain't no keyboard turner!(WoWmeme) I started with WASD moving around slowly, got yelled at in a BG and had to learn to mouse-move and use keybinds. After a dozen years playing WoW, it's embedded in my fingers. But it's all moot now - Switch lets me move with the tiny joystick. Much much better gameplay, imo.
