Hi guys... what is your thought on this.
I can go to any planet with a stack load of blocks and trap any alien that attacks me and then beat it down through the wall?
so i can start a fresh character on planet 10 and be JUST FINE. O_O

Do you think they will fix this?
Maybe blocks placed by a player should be destructible for aliens?

If this is not fixed or worked on... there is no threat, ever.
I found a Apex lab with enemies who 1 shot me with guns.. so i get some dirt... and kill each 1 with no threat by using the dirt to make a wall and then hit them through it ^^

I have decided to not use this exploit anymore.. but when ever i play with some1 else they use this exploit and it ruins the fun for me =/

why even find new weapons... dirt block = ENDGAME gear :S

I also did this at first...but I feel rly bad doin this. I hope it gets fixed. The devs knwo bout this of course...and I remember there beeing a post where they said they r not sure bout fixing it cause some people might like it. But I think this topic was brought up a lot now...so, propably there will be changes *-*

Wow, not fixing it because some people like it, is really sad. Surely they would want us to have better gear? because we don't really need gear with the power of the dirt block :D lol

all they need to do is fix hitting things through walls, then it's fine. You can still abuse dirt blocks but you can't kill anything anymore, making it a little bit pointless unless you're mining.

Guess you can't be bothered to go to the home page and read Tiys blog then eh TC?

They mentioned a fix for this situation?

Thats it. When I wondered about the avian sniper one told this way to deal with them and I don't like this possibility in an RPG.
Should really be fixed, since it does not make much sense :)

Yeah, they are fixing how armor/armor penetration(lawl more like weapon level) works completely so, other than maybe the occasional wall for an elite(boss) you shouldn't get 1 shot, honestly though, I don't have any issues with using terrain as a deterrent to enemies, it's called tactical thinking, just because you don't like it doesn't mean everyone else does as well.

What if the game prevented us from placing blocks a certain distance from a monster, this could stop boxing them in completely?

What would you constitute as the certain distance than? If you're building your house and a bird flies low as they often do, welp, looks like you don't get to build for awhile now.

so basically i can just take 50 swings with my sword to kill stronger mobs? and still trap them in a wall? and thats ok?
it requires no effort to trap a alien in a wall and kill it or walk past and loot the place...
Seems they did not mention a fix for this then...
Fixing the dps and armour on weapons would not fix the problem.. you will gear up and kill anything with dirt blocks as you progress through the game...
They made the UFO boss break blocks, why cant they make aliens do the same :(

I have no issue with the dirt blocking method, but I don't like being able to hit them through dirt. I usually ignore them if I'm diving on level 39 planets for platinum after blocking them off because technically I SHOULDN'T be able to hit them if they're surrounded by dirt.

But yeah, tactical thinking. In hostile areas, I use whatever method I can to get through.

If you are so bad that you NEED to trap enemies than thats YOUR hang-up, NOT the games, I don't have any issues killing things and with the change coming up it will only get better since things will be balanced out and not be, either do no damage, equal damage, or roflstomp damage.

    Lol, really?
An acceptable certain distance would probably be.. say about.. 3/4 of the distance your matter manipulator can reach?
Also, it's not like birds can troll Birds are easy to spot, especially since they usually vomit at you once you're close enough. ALSO, once a bird hits a wall, it turns around.

in terraria, you can't hit enemies through the walls, but you can still place the blocks and then break out 1 block and make a murder hole to shoot ranged weapons through...of course the enemies can also shoot you through your own murder hole.

and i don't think it's an exploit to use the blocks to your advantage to help fight enemies, you practically had to do that in terraria. making arenas for bosses and stuff.

i beat the ufo boss by making an arena just 3 horizontal lines of wood platforms then i lured it over and waited for it to come down and then went above it and hit it with a level 11 spear . i didn't have to "trap" it but i used the blocks to terraform the area to my advantage.

i admit, the blocks and the incredible range you can place them does trivialize many platforming challenges, like spikes and lava and toxic water, you just stand above and put blocks and make it safe. you could also do this in terraria but in that you had to get closer and you still had the risk of falling in

Yep well, trapping them in dirt is not the problem, its being able to hit them through dirt while they stand helpless? if they could fight back in some way then its no problem O_O

How about not being able to build during combat?

thats probably the best idea if heard so far! with the added mechanic which stops you from hitting through blocks.
    Great stuff :)

Attacking stuff through walls is a glitch/exploit at the moment and will get fixed.

As for not being able to build during combat - don't forget that a combat state (signified by the music change) can be triggered at the moment by a random monster in a cave that is completely unconnected to your own. So you couldn't build anything, and you'd be stuck in the combat state. Not the best idea.

Yeah I agree with this, I have had the combat music trigger when a mob passes under my castle and not stop until it moves far away or I go and kill it.
