Right, let's have a go at this. A gnasher, when look at in certain ways, may seem like a lizard. It may also seem like a leech, or a worm, or even some bizarre mammal. It is none of these things. A Gnasher is a creature unto itself. They are giant, ravenous, and don't care what they eat. Concrete, stone, sand, fire, people, trees, all are the same to them. They live to consume, until all around them is left barren and worthless, spending every waking moment chewing through whatever lies before them, gnashing their massive teeth against eachother, grinding and slicing anything into miniscule chunks. Thus is how they earned their name and their right to be feared, through biting and chewing and gnashing of teeth. Great, hairy beasts, they tower above man and machine, crawling their way along, leaving behind a path of destruction and dust. They are not found on any world that is lush or prosperous, because such a world either collapses into its gaping maw or destroys the Gnasher at an early age. They survive in only the harshest environments because they forge said hostile places, where few other than they themselves can survive. And that's my entry. I decided to build it in minecraft, because I don't have a lot of actual drawing ability and I haven't learned to make 3D models in actual modelling programs yet. I can take more screenshots at other angles if desired, and I do have a concept sketch that you can take a look at.
I absolutely love this idea! i can imagine it using it's arms to pull itself along while you are running for your life, scary stuff! And i love how you created a model of it on minecraft, that's really creative
I'm glad you like it! I decided to go with minecraft because it would help with showing what the creature as a whole looks like, something I can't do on my own in a drawing. The sketch shows better detail of just the head area, something minecraft lacks (unless you build things that are ridiculously huge) so I thought the two would go well together.
Alright, so I decided to take those alternate-angle screenshots so you guys can get a better look at this thing. In hindsight just having the top/front angles didn't give as good an image as I wanted.
So, would you consider it to be a boss, or just a monster that you need to run away from really quickly? Even if it is the former, I'd do the latter, but still.
I would have to say that, ultimately, the decision is probably up to the Devs as to what the Gnasher would do, since it is their game. The contest is for the idea behind the monster, not how it attacks and what loot it drops and whether or not it's the biggest baddest thing for lightyears around. Were I to decide myself, though, I'd prefer to see it appear as both a boss and an uncommonly found creature. Seeing smaller, younger Gnashers more often that pose less of a threat, but also rarely finding a singular giant one that appropriately falls under "boss" category.
