Feeding The Cat

I just discovered something... if you drop raw fish near your pet cat, the one you get from the Lunar Base, it investigates it, then eats it and a heart floats over the cat. I wonder if this actually does anything?

 

Kitty just likes fish.

 

...I wonder if this is a basis for follower equipment sharing?

 

Can someone confirm this with a pic? Sorry for my distrust.

I wonder if you can do this with non-special captured mob's, don't know what you'd feed them though

 

Experimenting with it a bit, the cat seems to sense fish some distance away, i spread some out on the ship while the kitty was naping (did they sleep before btw?), when it awoke it ran around and found them all (and consumed them greedily, no question marks this time).

Edit: Also, it eats other things then fish. I accidently dropped like 4 pinapples on the floor, it ignored them at first, then walked to them and hade a question mark over its head, then eat them all before i could react xD.

 

Wow. I guess the cat's not picky then!

EDIT: Correction, they are picky! I tried feeding it cooked steak and rather than a heart, a series of scribbles appeared when it ate it. Now it won't eat cooked steak.

 

Yea They refuse some things. (Tried to get mine to eat coconuts, couldent get it to work, but the cat might just have been full).

 

Reminds me a bit of feeding Chao in sonic adventure 2 battle

Also I forgot to say... this is something damn neat, not particular usefull progress wise, but damn need... details like this have gone missing in most games nowadays. You definitly got a point with that
