Feedback after few days, not so positive

So:
1) Can't host a game, cmd provides lot of warnings and nothing else
2) Very low fps and ''lag'' in single player, in dungeons or cities -> need optimization
3) Hard to teleport to surface cause tp platform is bugged: it often teleport you back to your ship...

But mainly
4) This game provides no challenge at all! You can defeat all the bosses (ufo, robot and dragon for sure), and, more in general, all the enemies, with the first bow (the one crafted during tutorial) because enemies stuck everywhere and AI is ridiculuos!!! Where's the difficulty? Where's the challenge?? Please, do something to solve this first.

If you die while fighting a boss the enemy doesn't disappear (and the ''beacon'' is not destroyed) and his health doesn't refill. Further more, you have all the time you need to kill the enemy: he never flees...Way too easy!!!!!!! Terraria provided a much more stimulating experience, so please, take into account the games that have already been released...

5) Techical issue: I played Starbound on a AMD 6-core cpu and HD5870 graphic card and it is totally unplayable cause of very low fps. How can I play decently on such configuration (os win 7 64 bit, all drivers updated)? Any idea?

 

I have also the low FPS problem and i've posted one reply in one other post for tweaking the first few lines in assets.config.
It helps a bit.

All the bugs and issues are discovered in the Beta so this is the purpose of the version.

After that the developers will introduce all the 10 sectors + much new content, tech and all will be just fine

In my case i was waiting for quite a while for the Starbound to appear and i'm quite happy with the game

Game optimization will follow in future phases afaik. As far as other issues go, well the balancing is still very much ongoing along with bugs being fixed so nothing out of the ordinary for a beta.

 

You know it's Beta and very few features are actually implemented right? Also, a major part of Beta's definition is that it isn't yet optimized. You're basically telling (not suggesting) the Devs to do things that they already plan on doing.

 

this game is a beta, that basically means what we see right now is the "skeleton" of the completed game.

 

This is why I don't like companies making people pay for beta. You get all these inexperienced players who think ti's a finished product whining that it's a beta. I miss the old days where you had to fill out an application, and they asked what other games you have beta tested, your machine specs, and other pertinent information to weed out people who have no business participating in the development of a game. Maybe games wouldn't be so dumbed down if they went back to the old ways.

 

I say this all the time but I'm going to keep saying it. Stop telling people this is beta. We know it's beta. If people don't give feedback, the devs have nothing to base their decisions off of. They wanted this sort of thing to be posted here when they launched the 'beta'. People need to complain. If nobody complained, Chucklefish would have to use their best judgement to fix any problems with the game or the direction it's going in.

The game being in beta/alpha/whatever you want to call it does not mean it isn't susceptible to criticism.

 

I agree with you but the main problem I have with his post is that he's just complaining about things the Devs are already aware of and have made it very clear that they plan on fixing.

 

I think the OP probably needs to buy a new rig. I don't have any of the problems he does. My game runs like a Kenyan with a lion on his tail.

 

But paying for this beta also gives you the full game later on, at a small price. Problems and bugs are accepted and i embrace them as it allows me both to play the game now, and discover bugs. And if I can help the devs make a better game, that's a positive sideeffect.

 

I kinda wish that they just kept beta access to those who paid in during the funding period. Even though it clearly has the whole "Early Access" message on Steam, people are still buying it and thinking that what we have now is representative of the final product. I understand feedback is important... but most of these people are just complaining about things that have already been addressed and starting to totally write off this game without understanding that we have access to a mere skeleton of the final version.

 

Do we really need people like that playing the final version? Best to get their money and let the piss off in the wind.

 

Maybe early access should be renamed public beta then? So people will be more clear what they pay for? Early access can easily be misinterpreted for something more exclusive than it is...

 

Ok, it is a beta, but...
I can't beta test server, cause servers does not work at all
I cannot even beta test this game on my 2nd pc, because the game does not work at all
To be a beta should be ''playable'', while in many cases I can't even play... I wasted 14 euro (my brother's copy of the game) when I could wait until sales: beta is not such a good excuse... If you can't understand what the problem is at least don't comment, thank you ^^

 

Can we just stop reciting the same arguments and forum posts that have been repeated dozens of times already, just accept that it's beta, and wait for the full game while trying to find bugs that haven't already been discovered by at least thirty other people?

 

Tell that to the 1,000s of people playing on servers right now. I'm sure there is an issue somewhere, but don't say they are not working, as well they are...

 

So much buyer's remorse going on here. You bought it full price, knowing full well that it had "Early Access" slapped over it, so you can't complain there.

It is playable. I can play it. I may go and play it in 10 minutes. If you're getting low framerate then you could be helpful to the developers and post your systems specs along with a description of the issue, to give them a benchmark for performance tests.

 

I played online too, and they re not working FOR ME and most of my friends (we tried for 3 hours yesterday evening, but nothing). I really don't care about the others...
