Fear of the dark

In most games I have an unnatural fear of dark places, and mining in Starbound is a great example.

Let's say I've fallen into a dark cave.

Never fear! I have a large supply of torches!
But what could be lurking in the darkness around me?

I always think there's going to be some creepy face just staring at me. The suspense kills me every time.
Does anybody else have this experience?

i get the exact same feeling.
In fact, i can only play games with a horror element if they're third person. If a game is first person I relate and get into the character too much and everything just scares me. To this day I am unable to play Half Life 1.

I had that feeling while mining in Terraria...I saw something glowing blue from another cave and was like....

"WHAT IS THAT THING?! -checks wiki- "oh, it's a jelly fish...."

Starbound wasn't much of the case, mainly because I rarely went in caves...

I hate indie horror games because they have the scariest looking monsters

What makes it worse is when they move with jerking motions and glitch out.

Then you hear the movement sounds...
Look around then bam! Screaming and chase music. Dear god.

Minecraft used to scare me with herobrine.

But it's just Code, Music and Art. I dont get scared of those anymore

I used to be afraid of Herobrine too, I don't know how I managed to be scared of something like that.

My friend let me try Slender (He MADE me try), but I freaked out when I saw that bastard for the first time. I don't like horror games or movies, since I'm a bit wuss. Of course, I'm fine with zombie games or some little scary elements in general. If the scary things won't traumatize me I'm fine and I like them.

I'm that way with water levels in 3D games. They freak me out, irrationally so.

The underground never really terrified me. You know what does, though? Night-time on asteroid fields. Sitting back helplessly as the darkness engulfs everything, the shadows growing larger and larger from the inside of the asteroid, it's almost like watching a Lovecraftian spectacle unfold before your eyes, and there's nothing you can do about it.

We need to have a Stalker creepypasta and a Stalker mob :p

i would kile to see an underground biome where light effects are reduced by at least half with tougher mobs but a greater reward. like a tar/slime/flesh biome with oozing mobs and maybe a mini-boss around a corner.

It was too forced, if we get a creepypasta, it has to be original.

The water level in Half Life counts as completely rational though...Those sharks are too hard to spot and are pretty much instant death.

I play terribble insaneley loud music all the time in scary games and stuff like this, it actually works to stop me from pooping.

I just hope unlike herobrine ~stalker does not become the sole creepypasta for starbound. Also yes, a creeypasta should not be forced, it should be an original idea where someone thought "wow, now that would be scary to just stumble upon."

You know what scares me in Starbound, that damn horse head, Gah! <.<

I have the opposite feeling. I wonder what's around me when I'm in the dark!
How else would I see interesting mobs, ores, and areas? I need to light the place instantly!

...Then again, my justification for not believing in Herobrine was that he wasn't in the texture files....

How can you be afraid of the dark while wearing a... horse head? Though when I play I usually have a friend accompanying me to carry the torch. Take THAT dark!
