Farming Q&A

    Hi!

I like farming. I've come across nearly 19 different seeds in Starbound so far. I have planted all of them and had some success.

I have noticed that while some have become ready to harvest multiple times, there are certain plants that just refuse to grow. I've had success with them on other planets early on, but now, I can't get anything out of them. (ToxicTop and the Eye plant are the main offenders) I'm not even sure what the names are of the other ones that wont grow - I have so many it's hard to keep them organized.

Anyway, has anyone confirmed biome/conditions required for certain plants, or am I just unlucky?

I know this is a terrible image, but I circled in white the examples of plants that won't grow.

Can you mine the seeds that won't grow to get the names, then replant them?

Nice farm, by the way. Good work.

See this thread. The basic are: Plants have a varying growth time & stages. If you move between ship / planet then the stage's timer can reset under certain conditions. Nothing is confirmed, but their experiments seem to support.

    Edit:

Thanks :D The ones that wont grow are:
As of now, those are the only ones I can't get to grow.

I created my farm before creating my house. I spent a good 1 - 2 hours on my house, and AFK in it often. My farm is right next to it. That means I am on the planet, next to my farm, for 2 hours with no growth. :(

Yeah, I'm having a similar problem with carrots and toxictops. They just aren't growing, even when I spend hours around the house.
