Personally? Not feeling the mixed biome thing. Can't see it really producing anything unique/memorable per planet. As much as I miss procedural generation as a frontier, I can't help but see the hand-crafted biomes and planets as working out much more memorably—at least there's some kind of logic there. For the kind of procedural generation you're looking for, I think you may need much, much deeper layers of procedural generation in play with incomprehensibly complicated rules to dictate them so-as to mimic human creativity. It's a noble goal, but it just doesn't seem to be practical for this game, especially 1.0 See: rainbow clown generated animals
I don't like Planet Variety. I don't know if it makes harder hunt for sub biomes in main biome planets, which I mean if it can replace sub biomes. It is really hard to collect all blueprints from sub biomes (and main biome planets), if rate of blueprints are increased, maybe I will aprove it even more, It should be limited not like it could be in every planet biome should contain multiple biomes, it should be limited, like min 10 percent to max 25 percent to caontain multiple biome. Combination of desert and midnight oe volcanic biome isnť bad idea. Id on't know what I should say to other combinations.
I feel like perhaps the multi-biome worlds could be their own type of planet. Alternatively, don't use multiple biomes and instead create a larger variety of sub-biomes which can pop up randomly on the appropriate worlds. Perhaps a swampy partition of a Lush or Forest biome, etc. Well I certainly wouldn't mind.
Hey, I don't know if that's the right place for that kind of comment, but as much as I'd really like to review the nightly build version... the starbound launcher won't open for me. Does anyone know how to fix that? I already cleared my universe and player files...
God I have to play new Vegas for myself now that I have it I watched my bro play it a lot when it was semi new
Cant obtain manipulator. There no button for it.Cant mine anything.Cant progress with out /admin command.Best update so far...
All the dungeons (with the exceptions of some smaller ones such as the Laboratory and Airship which aren't big enough to have seperate parts) actually are generated. The room layout is different every time you find one. You can check this out for yourself if you'd like - The dungeon files in-game contain the pools of room pieces that the game assembles to form a dungeon.
I tried opting to the nightly(which I have done before) but after opting in again(after not using them for a bit), the launcher won't even start. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game, anyone have any help?
Yes, the launcher is broken. That's why you manually launch from the starbound/win32/ folder for now. And Nightly Support is where you ask for help, not an unrelated blog post thread.
eeeuh how do you get the manipulator in nightly?? EDIT!! nevermind.. Well dont wanna cheat by using commands so thats the end of that journey
I generally like the idea of planets being a bit more diverse, however, I would like to also see the same uniform biome planets we already have. I think that the majority of planets should be one biome, but some would be mixed. Remembering back, infinitely large planets were being considered. Perhaps planets like those would have a much high chance of containing multiple biomes. I am still itching for giant artificial maze dungeon planets. A huge random dungeon crawl within one planet, maybe even with its own mini bosses and for sure a lot of cool sci-fi loot.
K so I managed to launch nightly after a couple updates, but no matter manipulator so no progression, lol. Can't even craft a pickaxe without it xD
Since they are currently changing how progression works entirely, no. Use admin commands. http://community.playstarbound.com/threads/missing-your-matter-manipulator.106160/ I really wish people would stop reporting Nightly issues here instead of the Nightly Support forum. http://community.playstarbound.com/forums/nightly-builds-support.157/
I'm so happy to see that you are coming to term with the 1.0! I've been member of the Starbound Community for a year and a half and soon the official release is coming and I'd like to congratulate all the team for doing such a good job. From my part, I'm more than happy to learn there'll be performance improvement since I have some difficulties on my 2010 MacBook Pro, in particular after some hours playing with a characer and a lot of planets discovered. But as a programmer myself I knew that you do not engage in performance improvement unless you completed the main developement part, so I resigned myself to waiting. Until today
I know the devs dont wanna give it a release date but, we are very near for the next update or just "near"
