    I know this is early.
But is there an expected date for Beta Phase 2?

    Reasoning for this question.
When I purchased this game on steam, It was listed as Beta game. By definition of a Beta product this game does not qualify.
If you do not understand what a beta product is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle#Beta
This game is clearly an Alpha product still lacking features.

    Beta
Beta, named after the second letter of the Greek alphabet, is the software development phase following alpha. It generally begins when the software is feature complete. Software in the beta phase will generally have many more bugs in it than completed software, as well as speed/performance issues and may still cause crashes or data loss. The focus of beta testing is reducing impacts to users, often incorporating usability testing. The process of delivering a beta version to the users is called beta release and this is typically the first time that the software is available outside of the organization that developed it.

The users of a beta version are called beta testers. They are usually customers or prospective customers of the organization that develops the software, willing to test the software without charge, often receiving the final software free of charge or for a reduced price. Beta version software is often useful for demonstrations and previews within an organization and to prospective customers. Some developers refer to this stage as a preview, prototype, technical preview (TP), or early access. Some software is kept in perpetual beta—where new features and functionality are continually added to the software without establishing a firm "final" release.

I fail to see how this does not qualify

don't say that on this forum TC, you will be attacked by rapid fanboys that believe because some game companies decide to "market" "Alpha" as "Beta" that it is ok, and that "the meaning of things can change over time" .... never seen so much pathetic from people in regards to attitudes towards company marketing.

YOU CANT JUST CHANGE THE MEANING OF THE SOFTWARE DEVELOPEMENT CYCLE. its set in stone... why change it? OH RIGHT marketing. Beta sells more than Alpha.

Features missing, clearly nowhere near ready to release .... "Beta" LOL.

Don't get me wrong, im loving the game, I dont really care. but fact of the matter here is, this is a damn alpha, and no the meaning hasn't changed... people bend over backwards for companies.... sad.

I think the word you're looking for testsubject is "rabid", not rapid.
At least have the decency to insult everyone who disagrees with you properly.

Also, this is a beta. Alpha's are generally accepted to be engine testing periods- we aren't testing the engine, we're testing features. Beta hasn't meant "feature complete" in like twenty years.

Oh fucking semantics. Beta, Alpha, whatever, you're not the first clown to point this out. The game is at the state it's at, it's explained everywhere what that state is, and what part you can choose - or choose not to - play in it's development. Take it or leave it, do you really think it's worth kicking up a shit because you disagree with the exact terminology?

There are better things you can be spending your time posting to contribute to the development of this game.

And this is not an ironic post, I'm replying in the hope that a few people will read this and decide to be a little more fucking constructive in their comments. PLEASE. Please stop whining about trivial shit and contribute something worthwhile.
