Excited for the new patch and Character wipe

Personally I am looking forward to the character wipe.
Not that I wont miss some of my buildings, but the reason I play a game like this is to try different things. I never build the same way twice.
For me, the characters swiped allows me to try out goofy stuff today knowing full well that they wont matter because after the patch I get to start fresh. I usually horde materials and build a main base to house my supplies. Now i can do outposts, dig to the core and make a home or whatever.

We all know that this is a beta. Character wipes happen, They told us dont get too attached to your characters. Honestly that provides a level of freedom that is nice. I would rather see some major changes like they are doing with a character wipe, then little changes that allow me to save a character.

Lets face it, most of us have multiple characters in a game like this because we like starting from scratch!

 

Just out of curiosity, is this actually going to include a character wipe? I was under the impression that our characters would still be there, but we'd need to delete and remake them to access the new stuff.

That's so true...

 

I allread started over 2 times. I am fine with this. I cant wait to see how the balances affect the game. This will be interesting and refreshing.

Either the update just deletes saves, or the character is there but crashes the game since they have items that have been altered in coding.

 

I don't mind the wipe. I just hope patch releases soon. Annoying to play when you know wipe is coming... I don't feel like progressing forward. I didn't even get very far yet. I hope there won't be new wipe after this, so I have time to see some late game. Not that much time to play when you have wife and work etc.

 

I just want to know when the patch is going out o,o

Plus with the change to the gear progression should be much more fun and even.

 

Would storing all of your items on your character into chests save them?

 

I'm looking forward to it too, the game is eminently replayable already and I'm extremely impatient

 

Actually, I'd wager that most players only use one character and do everything with it.

That doesn't invalidate the rest of your post, however.

 

Looking forward to it, i can't wait. Hope they add a new tier and some more cosmetics. Out of curiosity, is anyone changing race? Me i went human but im leaning towards avian and hyotl

 

myself im so anxious for this , i aint started playing yet and being waiting for the 1st major wipe so i can really test the game for a good while before
losing anything , hope its soon

Also people must understand that
"Character wipe" = your entire savegame gets deleted.

No, it would not help to save your stuff in a chest. Your entire world, universe, and ship gets wiped.
That's why it needs a wipe, because the entire universe gets re-generated with re-balanced stuff.
If you could load your old savegame, then your world wouldn't have the new rebalance in effect.

Imagine if Minecraft had an update that added new ores and changed every itemcode in the game (which essentially is what is happening with randomly generated items, if the algorithm changes, the outcome changes, your items become non-existant and/or replaced by others).

 

I'm excited for it, but I find myself reluctant to play since I've already gotten the best stuff in Alpha sector but I don't want to progress to Beta just to have a wipe.
Maybe I'll go search for a bone biome and build a corpse house

 

Yup, actually looking forward to it. Our group grew in these few days, and starting over all of us will be fun!
