Every Planet Guaranteed a Dungeon/Village/MicroDun?

Is it true that every planet is supposed to have a dungeon, village, micro dungeon, or structure of some sort?

If that's the case, I'm not sure I like that idea. The idea of finding evidence of previous inhabitants on every planet is a little much. A lot much, actually. To me that seems pretty darn illogical considering the infinite amount of planets in Starbound universes. In no way should it be guaranteed that there is a dungeon on every planet, as that completely strips the feel of vast open space and the idea of exploration.

Monsters and natural caves, resources, and land features. Sure, that's fine. But is it really that rewarding as a space explorer to know that someone has already visited over a million plus planets and build something? Never having that feeling of knowing you're the first person to ever set foot on that planet's surface? Kind of disappointing.

On the other hand, I understand that nobody wants to spend hours exploring a planet only to discover...nothing. That's a big time waste for a lot of us, and doesn't sound that enjoyable either. But I think there are ways to work around that. Yet I can also see how a lot of players might very well want a never-before-discovered planet and a clean canvas in which to build their civilization.

My solution would be to add a scanner to the navigation window that will search for "signs of life" or "signs of inhabitants". Something easy and quick. Click a planet, click scan, and it can detect signs of life (or previous life/structures). It doesn't have to be detailed information. Simple as a little equalizer graphic. No response means that planet has never been visited, has no structures, no villages, no micro dungeons, and is 100% natural. The higher the equalizer gets, the more signs of life the planet has. If it's high, there's obviously a large structure of village there. Mid levels...maybe old structures, ruins, micro dungeons, etc.

The problem with that is that if I recall, the planets don't generate all that info until a player loads into them. Maybe to get around that you'd have an object you'd have to place on the surface that would scan for life.

To me that would enhance exploration, save us time, while still providing a sense of mystery to "what in the world is on this planet!"

    No.
Who ever informed you of that is just confused as those are unrelated systems.

Dungeons - are generally a maximum of 1 per planet. Which means it can either have one or not. But if it does there will only be 1.
Micro dungeons are something completely different - as they can either be unique terrain formations - or things like bandit camps.

Is there a limit to how many microdungeons can generate per planet?

Not that I am aware of - the information on dungeons though is listed in terrestial_world.config

I just found a planet with two of the big avian temples and 3 glitch wizards, I know enough about world generation to be pretty sure it shouldn't happen. Should it?

The wizards are surface microdungeons, so that is entirely possible that 2 or 3 spawned on a large planet.

As for the avian temple, they were likely part of the same dungeon. The bigger dungeons have multiple buildings nearby each other, all part of a single dungeon. (see human prison, floran tower village, etc.)

If they were nowhere near each other, then yea that shouldn't have happened. I'm guessing that world was generated in a version of the game prior to Spirited Giraffe (when the max dungeon count was reduced from 2 to 1), or you have a mod that affected it.

By the way, here's a list of all the dungeons and where they spawn:

They need to change it as it is, it's like 50/50 that there be 0 or 1 and that counts villages as dungeons with there being way more dungeons than villages your chances of finding a village are rather low.

You should be able to tell from scans that something is down there or not and larger planers should be able to have more than one

But has anyone every once came across a planet that had absolutely no structures, dungeons, micro dungeons, or pre-build anythings? I know I haven't. Which is my point. I've been to hundreds of planets and have found at least something on all of them.

I have been to a superlarge planet with NOTHING on the surface though. (non hostel environment too)

Ah but remember that humans got into space first (after the precursor group) but that wasn't all that long ago. There's no way for current species to have built all those structures. Precursors or whatever you call them could have however done it. I can't explain why they did it with the materials of species to come

In my experience, about 60% of the planets I visit (not counting oceans) don't have dungeons on them. :(

Even micro-dungeons underground? Or structures of any kind?
