Estimate of an Estimate release date

Of course, cause games have never lost fans from a rushed/poor beta. If you are insinuating that I am this "hippy voice" you terribly wrong. I do not expect a perfected polished beta, man.

Please read more carefully, I did give an estimate. From what I have read, they want to release a beta that will largely reflect the actual release of the game. Likely because they are aware of the dangers of releasing a rushed beta, man.

It's a BETA, it's meant to be unfinished, they can polish it and improve it and that all they want, but a beta isn't expected to be all perfect.

 

Please note that the hippy voice was a joke. If you took offense I'm going to assume you aren't a fun person (also a joke, just in case). I am of course referring to the people that don't want an earlier beta, not because they think it will be rushed and poor, rather because they want it to be perfect. Also the post you've quoted literally didn't mention your name, nor did it quote you. I have no idea how on Earth you thought I was in any way talking about or to you considering I didn't know your stance on a beta.

Also I'm going to continue with "you didn't make an estimate" because you said "when its done" that isn't an estimate.

Alright. I just tire of seeing posts of people begging for a beta sooner with details as to why it can be sooner rather than later and so on. Nothing anyone says will get the Devs to release it sooner.

I never said anything about losing fans, I was stating my heavily biased opinion. Of course, I agree that nothing should be rushed and that the developers should use their time the way they see fit, I simply wish to play the game as soon as possible.

I dunno- it just seems to me that they should have a vague idea of when it will be released considering it is this year that the official release is happening. I know we have the road map- but like many have said, it doesnt need to be perfect for the beta release.

They must know a guesstimate, just wish they would tell us....

 

I'm pretty sure that they have a idea when they want to release the beta but they wont let that info out until they have a really good idea. They gave estimates before and were way off so instead the roadmap was created to appease the community and give an idea of their progress.

Betas are for the sole purpose of testing bugs and polishing game mechanics so releasing the beta early without all the game features would make no sense and would probably damage the image of the game.

Seriously go look at Starforge. Go to the steam community and see the discussions. They released a hardly working game early and see how it's going for them. Every other topic is "DON'T BUY THIS GAME" and "THIS IS AN ALPHA IT DOESNT WORK"

This isn't entirely true. I was under the same misconception until a few days ago when curious enough i looked into it. A beta is a game with all features finished that needs to have bugs found and fixed. Anything prior is alpha.

I agree with what you say, i would rather they give us the game with what features are finished and update as more is complete and we can bug find and fix in the mean time. But it looks like they want a literal beta, and since their view of the game includes a lot more features than are currently complete we won't be seeing it till then. I'd rather it be different and hope they will change their mind but that's what it is right now.

 

It came yesterday.

 

I've heard anything from April to December till the beta is released. At this point I have no idea what to expect.
