I'm thinking I should write a story, I have a general idea of how the story will play out, but i don't know how to start it. I'll probably have an idea by the time someone replies, but the main issue is that I don't know if I should or shouldn't.
I always go with the idea of write it first, title later. After all, the title describes the story, not vice versa.
The main character's name is victor right now, but I'm not entirely satisfied with it. if anyone has any suggestions, just fire away. This is what he looks currently looks like: But again, I'm not entirely satisfied with it.
As much as I love reading stories, if you aren't totally satisfied with it, I would say, change it up a little until you find something YOU are satisfied with. I'd say maybe another hair, black shoes?
My advice is to start off slowly, and don't jump straight into the action. I did that with my fanfic, and ended up making a prologue to add more exposition and characterization. That way, people get to know the characters and events leading up to the main plot better. As for the name, it was easily the last thing I thought of. I ended up using the title Stranded (since it was about a crew being stranded after a mysterious power failure). I also added a prefix (The Desulti Chronicles, since it's about the race I suggested) to spice it up. So, probably find a term that is relevant to the plot, and set it out in a way that would grab attention.
Whatever you do, don't go in blind. If you just start it with no real idea of how it's going to develop or end, then it isn't going to be a cohesive piece of writing. The best thing to do - after deciding that you should write it - would be to lay out brief explanations of each segment of the story, then narrow those down into chapters. Once you have them narrowed down into chapters, write short summaries of the chapters which you'll break into scenes. It doesn't take too long to do this, and your writing will connect better in the long run since you're writing with a plan.
