I was pointing out that people aren't griping about a boss being difficult, they're griping about it being broken.

Bringing up the mech boss was OT to begin with, so let's not squabble about irrelevant post content here...

I'm just trying to help that guy out. And if you're worried about squabbling, then don't needlessly confront people. I'm done

Looking at the code for the attacks, seems like ChuckleFish accidentally made the damage effect out of sync with the visual effect by 90 degrees. I made a small bugfix mod that should solve that issue until ChuckleFish gets around to pushing a new stable update.

And I'm glad I can finally use FTL! I hope Chucklefish gets things together soon, bugs like this can really ruin the game for people.

I hope in the future this space sandbox stops locking people in to platforming combat missions before they can access their sandbox.

I have also encountered the same problem with the 3. phase on this boss. Getting killed by the invisable beams is really annoying.
That aside it is a fun first boss, not too hard to be frustating and make you wanna ragequit, but when you die it feels like its your own fault,
just wish that I didnt have to use the "/admin" command to beat the boss on the 7.try though.

I always just shrink my pixels to voxels before fighting a boss til I win.

This bug seriously urked me out when I first started playing it. So many times I would get close, only to die to something I couldn't see. And then one time I DID beat it, but then promptly died to fall damage. Not fun.

However, I do notice an easy trick to dealing with the boss for people who don't want to simply cheat and use /admin. And that is go in the path of the visible beams. It seems like a bad idea, until you realize they don't have a hit box where you expect them to due to the bug. So the beams are actually safe zones, just stay within them and you should be fine.

And for people who keep dying to the boss, there's actually a really easy way to skip to the end of the level. And that is with this little passage here.

Now, I recommend having the dash tech to make this go a lot quicker, but it's possible without. Just much, much slower. Anyway, what you gotta do is get yourself in that little crevice. How do you do that? By rapidly pressing down and the corresponding direction (In the picture's case, left) at the same time. You'll start wedging yourself within the thing, and with dash you'll be able to go through it so much faster with the excessive taps activating it. It's very easy to do; just keep mashing left and down! I recommend using one hand to press left, while the other presses down. Makes it go much faster.

Anyway, good luck to anyone with this boss! Glitched bosses aren't fun, and the length of this area certainly made it more tedious than, say, the Weapons Test Facility boss.

I had a buddy dealing with this fight who asked me to give it a whorl because I said the boss was easy (I fought it before the changes that caused the bug). When I realized the hit boxes for the beams hadn't been changed, only the animations, I just tried to stay inside the beams during that phase. It feels totally wrong, but it worked for me. Also, sword and shield makes almost all combat in the game completely trivial once you figure it out.

It honestly wouldn't have been that bad if it weren't for the invisible lasers. I think they should keep boss difficulty the way it is, and just give us a checkpoint to spawn from instead of doing the mission over.

yeah checkpoints always help, reminds me of how gta used to be without checkpoints.

I highly doubt you spent 30 hours of trying to beat it. It's easy to beat, my suggestion is get a shield, and don't try to rush. Make sure you have some good food and A LOT of bandages. It's how I made it through.

    Edit: About the invisible lasers.. Good luck with those ;-;

Mech boss is a wimp. The bugged Erchius Horror killed me through cerulium armor even though I had dash, rocket shoes and even several modded weapons of my own creation at my disposal (though I guess they don't count since the boss can't be hurt by bullets.)
