When I get to the third phase of Erchius Horror I suddenly start taking damage from nowhere. It's shooting beams while this is happening, but they're not pointing at me. It has happened to me multiple times and I can't find the issue.

    P.S.
I'm playing on a more than 7 years old Windows XP but it normally plays just fine.

  2. I am also having this problem, but I am on an up to date win 7 install.

I've had this kill me about 8 times now. I'm not going to be able to progress until this bug is fixed.

Having the same issue plus the game crashes right after I die

  5. Yeah, I figure I'll have to do that. I'd rather not, but this is getting ridiculous.

There is an explanation on starbounder.org on how to work the fight, but this can't be intended, changing the given rules of the game from "it shoots beams at you, you get hurt from them" into "It hurts you everywhere but these specific unmarked spots" during a fight like this is bad game design.

...I also feel as if i should have better equipment than available for this, should i get hit, i take about 1/4th-1/3rd of my total hp in damage. It might just be my nature for longer more drawn out fights, but i don't enjoy getting 4-shot, even on a boss.

Yea, I have the same issue. I went ahead and created a short video showing the it. I am Running Upbeat Giraffe with no mods or configuration changes on Windows 7 using the 64-Bit OpenGL launch
Just in case a Dev wants to see what we see ^_^

Same here. I managed to survive the fight, though, but barely standing.
Probably an error somewhere in the pattern code (as always, right ? x) ),
t'will be fixed (hopefully) in further updates.

I'm more concerned about regular random engine crashes than poorly designed
bosses right now, because the latter are not completely game breaking.

I had an issue with the final phase though, there was no way to avoid the lasers, so I had to rush the switches instead of tactically avoiding lasers

Well, when the game crashes you can at least continue close to where you were by just opening the game again, but when you can't get past a boss you simply can't make any progress.

Well you're not the only one, but there's no shame in dying from unavoidable attacks, really x).
Running for the switches might be the best way, but when your life has already depleted, crossing the lasers often means instant death, as they deal most of the constant damage.

Never crashed during a mission yet, but I spoke in regard of every general crash occuring while exploring, opening containers and generating random stuff. These are the main causes for crash right now on my side.

actually i wouldnt xDD[DOUBLEPOST=1423258595][/DOUBLEPOST]not a biiiiiiiiiig fan of babies..makes me wonder how a floran baby looks like...Floran babies must be just as savage as the adults :p

My guess : florans babies don't exist. They grow from the soil, like fresh young aple trees :p

Back on topic, the whole "frenzy boss fights" thing is getting a little confusing, bugs being put aside.
I see these for what they are now, meaning simple placeholders for future bosses to be created alongside.

The progression from one boss to another is somehow unequal at the moment, and so is the construction of some of the premade levels, like the first one (love that idea btw ! But we need mission checkpoints !) : you're given the metroid static boss (which still is unpolished, by the way it looks xD), then some crazy arse penguin army where you constantly have to micromanage your healing / evasion / damage output, then a succession of floran npcs to butcher (meh), and then the overpowered Dr Foetus-like penguin mecha trashcan that litteraly blows your face up. It's like a completely random margin of progression.

I'm more than likely to let the dev team iron these points out until final release, right now, because checking for bugs and identifying holes in general game design is quite useful, yet more tedious than actually playing the game, and I don't want to get bored of this game before it finally comes out.

I didn't have much difficulty finishing this boss despite the bug. It seems that the server thinks the beams do not actually change angle during that phase, thus so long as you realize this you can take a minimal amount of hits and get it done.
