Wholeheartly agree, but that was also my critic back in unstable. I feel forced to do things I don't want to do, but well. I've given up that fight.

If you have the energy dash tech, you can cross one of the borders, which will shorten your way down to the Erchius boss. That saved my nerves a bit, because he killed me roughly 5 times (and I also fell a lot down and died).

@Izzabelle, have a look at that video:

I just did the tech quests before I fought the boss. First two phases are easy. The finale phase just take the laser hit and heal plus eat cooked meat worked for me. By the third attempt I just ignored the enemies I did not have to fight.

I know to activate the switches and that thing at the bottom. I think the main thing which annoys me is the lack of checkpoint. I like a challenge, but I love having checkpoints before the bosses more.

Just because I don't wish to end up tearing my hair out, how does one cheat their way past the boss? Spawn the quest items to progress?

you are just using the switches though right?
Not trying to poke at it with your weapon?

the only time you have to eat or block the lasers is during your third shot- for the first and second you can hit all four switches without passing through them. If you do it fast enough no additional fleshbeasts will spawn.

It's ideally doable without even swinging your weapon once. You just have to be swift and clever. Techs help but aren't a necessity.

Wow I found this boss to be quite easy. Now the mech boss on the other hand.... ugg.

The shield helps so much! So do the rocket launcher and double jump tech.

I also had a hard time, I had to cheat to get past it and I'm no noob alright!?

Here's my emotions going through the mining facility:
:x I forgot I had to get the breathing pack tech and I died almost instantly. But after that it was:  X3 o_O  :wot: :saywhat: :ninja::sneaky::sarcasm::eek::wot::chrono::chrono::rip:

I might have to do that mission again just the fight the boss... I liked the mission before the boss, as I found it simple to get down and out; even if took a while. Easy, no.

I never fought the boss before, as it was not put in at that time I did that mission. hmm... Wonder how difficult in comparison it is to dreadwing. I might have to do a few times before defeat, but is something I'll figure out when I do another play through.:)

As the first boss. Its pretty awful for where you're expected to be just going through the motions. Steel armor, Steel craft weapons. Though I'm using a legendary bone hammer i was lucky to find. Mainly the Steel armor part as two hits you're dead, one if trapped by intersecting beams. And its not set up for you to bandage yourself easily. Cant make stimpacks.

You shouldn't need perfect blocking. There should be leniency to SOME mistakes. This boss is infuriating me after the second hit and its beams rotate into each other. I can do it perfect tell then but if you miss the block avoiding where both beams intercept you wipe. Instantly breaks the highest shield Ive stumbled on so far. 115. And having to go through it alllll over again and kill all the trash for the 5th time makes me want to wait another few months for the next build.
Game never explained two handed blocking, don't know how that helps for spray and beam attacks.
I cant find anymore quests. Only was able to unlock 2 of my 3 subsystems. Figures I'm punished for not choosing dash. Seen no sign of the rocket launcher quest people speak of either.
Made second stage foods. like cooked meat into meat dumplings. How much better are they? NO IDEA. no info if I'm making better foods.

    Salty salt everywhere.
tried again. WHY ARE THE BEAMS SO FAST!

OH HEY, there is a safe place with the cross beams at the top and bottom. lovely that there was zero telegraphing of it other than hope you live long enough to notice it and not get stuck in the wrong quarter of the room. At-least with completely unfair bosses in some other games (meat boy Hell boss) You could start right at the boss again and learn its Simon says routine. But no. you get to crawl back every time and see what you could possibly do different while losing 30% of your pixels, or your items.
You do learn you can just jump over everything heading to the boss as everything lags to respond though.

Sstand before the door and sspam weaponss. Unlesss the layout of hte bosss was changed before the sStable releasse, thiss will be posssible with rocket launcherss doing it besst.

Otherwisse I sseriously don't ssee it being remotely posssible without help and being lucky in finding REALLY good weaponss, or being lucky while finding it.
I've tried fighting it fairly in the Unsstable about 20 timess and the part I died at wsas when it got to half healthish one quarter left.

And personally you also need bandagess to fight the bosss, I recommend atleasst 20 as you'll use up about 7 consstantly healing in the 2nd and 3rd phassess, namely the 3rd.

Also don't fall and usse the Kinetic bubble, You'll more often than not, hit the laser more than once, which is the most you can really take at any point in the bosss fight without becoming handicapped to eventually lose. Sstimss helpss even more ofcoursse ssince it healss more per ssecond and for longer, but I don't know if you can reliably make them or get them without the FTL.

This is a perfect example of why games have checkpoints before boss fights anyway. Having to redo a long map every time you die at a tough fight at the end drives people away.

The mech boss? Yea you haven't fought it in awhile, you can't do that anymore, they changed it to be more like the erchius boss, you drop down through 2 hatches that auto close behind you.

If you have the jump tech and the dash tech you can easily get to the boss in under two minutes (Without fighting anything).
But still, a checkpoint before the boss would be appreciated. There's a room full of miners and with lots of beds around 30 seconds from the boss room that could serve as a checkpoint.

Absolutely terrible boss IMO, hated the entire experience after the first playthrough of the area. I really enjoyed the gameplay of the mission leading up to it, from entering the dark base and powering stuff up to uncover the alien menace and discovering the infected worker. Fighting said worker was initially frustrating, then massively disappointing when I realised I could hit the switch and double jump back up then just gribble him down with ranged fired where he couldn't reach me (and therefore didn't even try, just stood stock still until he was dead). Having to fight a tank that hits like a truck in a confined space otherwise feels like a kick in the teeth.

That boss though. I liked the idea, that it was a boss that wasn't just a sack of HP and DPS that you had to dodge around while shooting back or whatever, but it felt more like an exercise in frustration. It was the fall damage that did me in repeatedly, more than anything. In the end, I did a speed run of the preceding area just dashing past and over literally every single enemy, then just man moded through the lasers where appropriate with bandages, red syringes and cooked steaks, aiming to just get it done as fast as possible and be done with it. Thank god I don't have to do that again anytime soon, hopefully the later bosses won't be such an exercise in frustration.

Been loving the update beyond this though.

This boss would be alot easier, if energy dash direction double taps were less strict on the timing, I don't know how many times I've fallen to my death during my Unstable play of it simply because I'm not mashing the direction buttons or my fingers are getting tired due to trying to keep moving while double-tapping the buttons. Really isn't all easy to get used to honestly.

If I want a good platformer BASED only on combat then I'll play Rogue legacy, Guacamelee...not this. I expect lots of exploration, challenging monsters and boss but not this level of annoyance. What pisses people off here I guess is the lack of checkpoint first and the level of difficulty second. And why the hell can't I change my ( S + Space ) jump down key ??? that doesn't exist ? I should. Anyways, this boss is just too damn annoying at first. I expect this kind of boss later on but not for the first one seriously. A bit of tweak would be necessary

If they just added a checkpoint, it would be all good. I mean... It's the first boss.

EDIT: It's actually not that hard if you have at least 20 bandages at the boss. The pulse jump helps A LOT. All you do is flip the levers one at a time.

    1. First you go in the little hideout under the laser cannon thing. In there, the Erchius Horror will stop shooting his lasers and you will be safe. (except from the pink dudes)

    2. After you're down there, quickly jump out and flip one of the bottom levers, go back down to the hideout then walk to the other side in the hideout and flip the other bottom lever and then go back to the hideout.

    3. Now you are going to want to flip the top two levers. This is where your pulse jump comes in handy. (If you don't have pulse jump yet, then I recommend blocking with a sword.) You are going to use your pulse jump (double tap space quickly) and try to quickly flip the top lever. Then hold space+s to get back down to the hideout (might want to heal with bandages). Then do the same thing for the other lever.

    4. Once you flip all four switches, the laser cannon directly under the Erchius Horror will have four blue lights lite up. You just hit E on it and it will shoot the Erchius Horror.

    5. Do this 2 more times (total of 3 times) and the Erchius Horror should die. Then a door will unlock and you can proceed your quest.

This seems like a lot, but it should only take about 5 minutes to kill it.

I know the energy dash helps and is fun, but fall damage is no longer a thing if you get bouncy. (Or just find a tech card in a chest and get both) I always pick bouncy over energy dash.
