Call me casual, tell me to git gud, whatever, but am I the only one who thinks the Erchius boss is too hard?

I got a rocket launcher from the mission, easy enough for picking off those pink things. Highest tier armor I can get at the moment, even when I parry/block those lazers, they overwhelm me too quickly.

And to boot, when you die there aren't any checkpoints. It's very discouraging when you keep having to run through that gauntlet every time you want to fight the crystal, only to die in a few seconds.

Do any of you guys think it's too hard, or do I just suck?

The thing is, what exactly are you doing with the boss? If you tried to shoot it with your own weapon, then you're doing it wrong. Try activating those switches around it to power the mining laser, and then use the mining laser to shoot it.

the crystal is easy to beat if you have a shield and get good with perfect blocking

Just block as you pass through the laser, and of course try not to pass through them unless you have no choice.

As soon as you drop into the room starting hitting the switches, you can usually get a couple active while it "wakes up" If you think this boss is hard just wait til you see what comes later.

Activate the four switches, activate the cannon. Repeat 3 times.

When it comes to blocking, make sure you block right before getting hit to get a "perfect block". Perfect blocks negate all damage and dosent drain the block.

For more of a challenge try defeating him without blocking (its fun, but a tad hard, recommended to have tech's for this one unless you realy want a challenge).

In my humble opinion the boss is only hard if you dont know how to face him, once you know he becomes very easy. (make sure to bring a few bandages or other healing items).

You can block the lasers ? I've always tried to dodge them (works well until the 3rd phase).

EDIT : A laser-shooting boss that mutates people around him ?

In the third phase the safe zones are directly beneth and directly above the boss. As long as you wait out the laser shooting in those areas it still works fine. If your anywhere else when it begins to fire you will have to sacrifise getting hit once to reach one of those two safe zones.

Make sure you bring a lot of Bandages,

Because if you get hit by these laser attacks, you got to use them frequently.

I think they could've made this boss a little more forgiving, at least with a checkpoint or something right before it. I mean it's the first boss, and it really isnt that hard, but it's kind of annoying that pretty much the entire rest of the game is blocked off and depends solely on whether or not you have decent reflexes. Getting bored with only having 1 solar system to explore where 4/6 of the planets have the same biome.

I've failed 3 attempts (1 was by laser, 2 by accidentally falling) already and it's getting tedious to have to run all the way back down there just to end up failing again.

    Any tips for phase 2?

Don't be afraid to cheat your way past him if you feel you have to. This is still beta and feedback on how tough or how easy parts of the game are is good for the developers. Also bear in mind that the bosses currently implemented are designed for the combat/adventure progression path and that the team plan on having other options available to players, farming and building are two that I know of that they have mentioned for progression paths.

  12. I hate the whole mission.

It takes me forever to work my way down to the boss. Then I usually die. And have to do it again. It wouldn't be so bad if there was a check point (or 2).

I have tried several times, and I am fairly decent with perfect blocks but i always mess up just ONE too many times and am not fast enough and poof....starting ALLLLLLLLLLLL over again. PLEASE GIVE US AT LEAST ONE CHECKPOINT!!!
I can't do it anymore, I had to take a break from it. I guess I will try again later when the frustration wears off, I am bound to get it eventually I guess.

Oh yes - one checkpoint (e.g. in the last "bed chamber" before the boss lair) pretty please.... or, to put it into rhymes:

    "Monster Fight In Crystal Lair"
Sounds challenging and fun and fair
But when your face that evil mind
Rout and death is all you find

Repeat from start to try again
That plot seems like a lot of pain
So have a heart and just be nice
Please add one checkpoint save device

You need to practice. Go play some Castlevania and fight Legion :D

The boss itself is fine, but couldn't they at least give us a shortcut to the bottom so we don't have to do the whole damned level again if we die? It's so depressing to make it all the way there then fall off a high platform and die immediately and have to do the whole thing over.

Do you know the secret passage?

  19. Nope

As a player that focuses much more on building -- and as a particularly poor platform player -- the restrictions that come with this boss fight are absolutely crippling for me. I have now properly died every possible way you can die in this fight over and over again. For me, the boss fight itself is a game-breaker. I don't have the mechanical skill to trump it or even the good fortune to just "luck out". Tag on the "redo entire mission" after you die, and the whole thing becomes a practice in insanity. I'm sure the content past the fight is amazing. But I won't ever know it unless the boss fight itself changes.

Well, after the Erchius Horror you have a fight with Dreadwing, that I nicknamed "The fight where you must zoom out and shoot it out of screen or it will stomp you" x)

And the Fatal Circuit doesn't exist anymore :/
