I'm not sure if this was said, or is already a thread. But I would love to see npc's/enemies interact with each other. Example a large fish see's a smaller fish and he eats it, or lets say there is "hot" nurse npc and the dorky mechanic hits on her from time to time. What are your guys thoughts?
That could make for some interesting background activity, maybe with that nurse/mechanic example you might hear a slap sound, then look over and see a fading red tint on the mechanic's head and a few HP missing.
Also interact with the environment! A butterfly see's a flower, so It lands on it. That would be cool. Although how much extra work would that require? Unless you only want a small amount of monsters/npc's interacting it would take AGES going through each monster and thinking how and which monsters they react with. then coding it.
Yeah, i guess. http://playstarbound.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/krabmikaze1.png Ive just noticed a fish eating a fish in the lower right corner!
I love this idea. One of my favourite things to do in games is to watch the NPCs interact with one another. I usually get a laugh out of it, and that's always good.
cool idea Interacting NPC's really add to the depth of the game and make it seem more real. Nothing too crazy, maybe just like 2 baddies having a conversation or another baddie swinging a pick axe at the ground. Small details to add some effect to game play.
I like this idea. I think that it could be expanded so that NPCs behave differently depending on the environment as a whole. Since we already know that plants can be collected, why not have plants that bloom during the day causing them to turn into enemies. Also, why not have some extremely difficult enemies that temporarily hibernate during the night or during the day. The devs have already made it clear that they want players to have to find different ways to defeat enemies; so I think that this could be a really interesting way to do it.
That would be awesome! Hopefully it's better than minecrafts interaction, where the testificates just stare at each other.
From Blue's Collection of Info: - Humanoid enemies will appear. Many will be grouped into teams to appear as if they are working together. I'm not sure if i\this just means that they will be grouped together randomly, or they actually work together as a civilization. It would be a feature I would love to see.
Translation: Do what everyone else would pretty much. Anyway I would like enemies to interact with each other, like birds eating fish. It would certainly add more atmosphere and make them seem actually smart.
I think it's a great idea. NPC's that interact with each other and the environment can really inject life and depth to a game. Probably doesn't have to be anything crazy, just some little things to really add some charm.
A bear playing with its cubs in a stream. The salmon running away. Me busting up in the stream and vaporizing mama bear, then kidnapping the cubs. Ahhh starbound.
It would be great to have a food chain, as it were. With everything else that Starbound has waiting in the wings, it honestly wouldn't surprise me to see a whole ecosystem of survival of the fittest at work on each planet
It would be great to see some interaction of NPCs/Enemies that come from totally different planets! Like a 6-legged, purple horse and a gigantic cat would slowly circle around each other carefully, after some time they would sniff at each other and finally they would kill each other/make love! I dunno, pick one.
