It may not always happen, but when your ship runs out of gas can run out ernegia and with a high gravity or your ship can fall at some random planet.

Hw would you imagine that to happen? It would be too hard to do. The not blocky ship would look kinda weird on a blocky landscape. Also there would need to be some sort of animation or something for the ship to crash from space into the planet. Its also too much bother. In the start of the game when you just start playing there might be very little fuel in your possesion... causing crashes rather often. Im just saying but even if.. this seems kinda pointless. If something would happen... like idk the infamous space pirates would attack your ship and that would be why you crashed and then you would have to fight them off... there would be a point to it but this... meh. Also you provided very little detail.
There should be an animation, but a video film where his burning ship towards a planet. After the ship would appear somewhere on the planet within a small crater. And, in case of attack by space pirates, then you would also be the struggle home with them, oh if your ship lose the fight, or it explodes or she falls, and the Pirates will probably find that you died, or maybe they will go after you.
Your ship is a safe haven. Having this happen is a bad idea, i have already said no to things of this nature so I must say no to this as well.
Like Autzome said, I think the ship is supposed to be a "safe place", it has its own storage, heck, even your inventory has a button for "send to ship". The ship is a very important part of the game and destroying it because you ran out of fuel/random can just be annoying not cool. Doing this might also ruin it for many new players who want to explore new planets but BAM their ship is totaled and all they have are wooden swords.
I would say do something more along the lines of finding a crashed ship with technology, information, and items to loot.
I have seen talk about running out of fuel in space before, not the crashing though. I imagine fuel costs to travel would be estimated before you travel, so if you don't have the required amount, you simply don't fly. Couple that with the fact that I don't think we have the option for free flight, I don't think we would find ourselves in a situation where we don't have fuel. Personally I don't see anything wrong with a ship wrecked event, as long as the costs to repair your ship isn't too high or impossible. The ship being a safe zone doesn't have to be a restriction imo, it could still be a personal area without having to be stuck in the sky, I just think its a bit far off at this stage of the game. Would be cool to get stuck in a gravity well and crash on a certain boss planet and have to defeat it to get a certain part, perhaps a random event that can only happen when you reach a certain lvl, before that it simply states the gravity on the planet is too strong to approach with the option to risk it happening once you can actually survive there. There is always a way.
Don't feel bad, I like the idea but I have to agree the ship is meant to be like a safe place if all else goes wrong... Still, it was a good idea.
An idea is an idea. It cant be good or bad. >.> well I guess it can. Haha, anyway im gonna say what I often do, The important thing is that you tried! Try to think of another suggestion, I also always suggest for people to suggest (So much suggesting) simple yet useful things. Just have a think about it!
A breakdown of your star drive would be a neat idea, make it where you have to scrounge together enough stuff to repair it. Crashing on a planet would be a little crazy. Great idea though.
I personally think its good, yes the ship is meant to be a safe haven, but this spices things up a bir
I'd love this but I'm pretty sure you aren't allowed to travel to planets if you don't have enough fuel to get there.
Oh trust me, I saw Bartwe streaming once and he teased everyone there with an incredibly scary and ugly rentacle monster which was in your ship zone. Your ship is nowhere near safe with that thing around.
This might be pedantic but... If you are in orbit you don't fall to the ground if you run out of gas. Yes yes tidal forces can slowly change your orbit, lets not get THAT pedantic . The other issue is that if your ship was falling to the ground, unless it has some aerodynamic design (parachutes, wings, etc) it will take much MORE energy to land than it ever would to achieve orbit (say if you ran out of fuel on a suborbital trajectory). This would especially be the case if the planet/moon you were near had no atmosphere to slow you down.
Instead of having the ship crash why don't have it where the is a hardcore mode and your ships has already crash. That why you have to make a new one to continue your journey. Like what the other said it would just be to hard to do it.
